Offiah was breathtaking in his prime, Andrew Johns was a magician, Jonathan Thurston controls a game better than anyone i have ever watched and his enthusiasm for the game is brilliant.

Lesley Vainikolo was my out and out favourite player when he was at Bradford.  Watching him every week was a pleasure.  Tevita Vaikona was not far behind.

You must be older than me, because I don't remember Hunslet's last 'thick'.

Charlie Renilson at Halifax, if it moved Charlie would tackle it

Not necessarily my favourite , those would be Tommy Martyn snr and Alf Wilkinson

The best

Woody , the best most skilful RL player to play the game in my lifetime , for a couple of years in the early 80s the best RL player on the planet , and shove half a dozen pints down him and he'd be the best even now

I still remember being at the bottom of the pavilion steps at watersheddings when the huge brute that is Les Boyd darkened the sky as he lumbered past...what a brutal, nasty, solid bruiser of a bloke was he...Not a nice man when his dander was up(Often) but what a beast...frightening!

As was our own Brian Hogan....

During the 78 tour the Aussies were based near Rothwell just outside Leeds.  Every Tuesday lads in the final year of school - Airedale High School, Cas - would go to Rothwell Sports Centre for a games lesson.  We would stop and watch the aussies running around their hotel.

At some point I fractured my collar bone playing for the school and was sat in a small waiting room with 4 chairs at Cas hospital.  In walked Les Boyd, the room shrunk even further.  I was awe struck and bricking it but Boyd asked about my injury and we spent 10 minutes or so having a chat.  Couldn't believe he was such a good bloke.

Good shout - Johnson on form is a sight to behold.  The way he sidesteps players with absolutely no room is incredible - the one a couple of years ago where he stood up Greg Inglis for example.

As with a lot of the Warriors past and present (Hurrell, Vautavi) absolute rocks and diamonds players - which just makes them all the more 'real'

Agree with Gubrats and thebull13  - Woody by a country mile. Naturally gifted, part time era, none of your conditioning and healthy eating malarkey, unless you count a few pints in the Courts hotel. A rugby brain and talent a plenty and an absolute masterclass of skill to watch. We were very very lucky people to watch him in his pomp.

Lots of favs around the same era from stars like Dessie Drummond to 100%  run their blood to water Leigh lads like Mick Hogan, Terry Bilsbury and David Eckersley

Just to make the thread title a tad more valid I've decided to include new Hull FC signing Bureta Faraimo as a selection for "my all time favorite player".

I've actually not seen him play yet but at least he's in the United States World Cup squad.

I remember watching John Woods in his prime playing for Leigh at Bradford. Leigh had a scrum about 30 yards from the Bradford line. Leigh got the ball from the scrum and and eventually moved the ball out to Woods. As the scrum was breaking up and players moving away Woods ran back  side stepping right through the middle of the pack of players and out the other side without anyone laying a hand on him.

Sheer brilliance.

You're just getting in early so you can resurrect this thread in three years time like you did the Fonua one. I'm not as daft as I look.

You must be as it wasn't me that resurrected the Fonua thread.

I await your sincere apologies after you've checked.

Favourite player of all time is no contest. It's my boyhood hero, Clive Sullivan. I absolutely idolised him. It feels like an appropriate time to remember his finest hour.

Johnson is an incredible talent. He's got that X factor that makes him stand out a mile.

Do love the tandem of Cronk and Smith...watched them for the first time against Scotland last year and they knew each other's game inside out.
