Pudsey Hawk glad to hear you are coming with an open mind to the Toronto Wolfpack and Ontario in general...its refreshing after dealing with Workington! Everyone here is anticipating a big crowd to honour one of the greatest teams in League history...really enjoyed that old clip of you guys playing Leeds. Looking forward to playing you guys. Weather this spring has been somewhat wet and a little cool but it is turning now. Remember if you are going to Niagara Falls to watch out for this tourist tax that they try to slip in on everything (Niagara Falls is where the idea started)...watch out for the hotel bills in Toronto now (they are trying it there too)...just refuse to pay and stand your ground...they will remit it (ask about it beforehand might be wise). Terrible idea for tourism since the money just goes in the owners pocket...it is not a legally binding tax. When you say 'music bars' just what exactly do you mean (jazz clubs/kareoke, live rock, summer concerts?). What do you mean by music bars? Are you going to Niagara Falls or Niagara On The Lake? Toronto, of course, always has numerous various acts coming in, Violent Femmes are at Massey Hall on the 8th...I'm not too familiar with the night rock scene in Toronto...check out 'Molson Canadian Ampitheatre' for some interesting night concerts in the downtown core (looks good!)...hope this helps. Niagara Falls is a tourist trap but everyone goes...Niagara on the Lake is very nice and wine tours is the gig there...also history in that many of the battles from the War of 1812 (when we beat the Yanks) are there...lots of nice women over here! I'm from up North so when I go to the games I am visiting too..don't really know the local restaurant scene in Liberty Village area...good question though...makes me think that I have never eaten a steak in Toronto in my life. Grow our own meat up here and have it slaughtered...like my steaks real big (BIG) and real thick (THICK) with not much fat...probably cost a fortune for one in Toronto. My brother is a cattle rancher with a large herd and when he goes to Toronto for business he always has a steak at Barberians...he says its the only place a man can get a proper steak in Toronto (but nothing like the size we eat at home). He does know his steak though....dealt in meat all his life. I've looked on the Internet and there are alot of other good steakhouses around it seems. My daughter just came in the room and she says the steak at 'The Keg' is also good (probably cheaper than Barberians or Mortons too}. Hope this helps. Hey looks like the closest place is 'The Keg' on King St. West (same street as the stadium) but a distance down the road at 560 King Street West. Singspiel Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 If you're here for a few days you really should try and make a trip to Niagara Falls.Its about 90 mins along the QEW and its a once in a lifetime trip.I live about half way between Toronto and the Falls and will be at the game Saturday.Unfortunately the Blue Jays are out of town for the weekend so you cant go to a game.I may be available to drive 2-3 to the Falls on Sunday if I'm free,depends on work. A huge sausage parading around the grounds...what were they to say?...what were they to do?...dumbfounded they thought, "What will the Wigan women do when they see the size of that weiner?" And so it went on Moose, into the entire second half...the Hunslet players running to their loyal fans after the game like a lost moose calf to its Mom...LET THE DRINKING REALLY BEGIN NOW! And some are still singing now....they will never stop! And through it all, if one looked into the sky, peeking through the crowds, were the founding fathers of your club, and all of Rugby League, with huge smiles on their faces, and pints of good pale ale in their hands ...and the RUGBY GODS showered the concrete box known as Lamport Stadium with music and joy on that day! Toronto have been blowing away most teams in the first 40, so to hold them to 22-12 at half-time with a far from full strength team was a fantastic effort, it was always going to get away from us in the final quarter as we began to run out of steam on a hot sunny evening. Thought Reed, Coventry and Wilson were excellent up front, we found a few holes in their defence and of all the players missing one I would have liked to see most was Gibson, whose craft might have got us another try. Still top, top night and great to have both sets of players and fans mingling by the beer tents after the match, there was nothing but positivity in tbe Canadian night air! And the Torontonians do seem genuinely curious and eager to learn about our game. And of course WELL DONE to the 100 or so Hunslet supporters for their magnificent efforts in coming for this game. I know the players were blown away by it. Meanwhile the 'bread-and-butter' league matches return next week and we need to step up to the plate, nothing less than 3 wins from the final 3 fixtures will do now. Was a fantastic night, we won so many friends at home and in Canda, the positive PR we have had off the back of the teams performance and also the support of the traveling fans has gone off the scale! Our social media stats are unbelieveble for the last week, we've never been as popular! Massive thank you to the people of Toronto and the Wolfpack for your hospitality and friendlyness, it was one of the best trips I've ever had and certainly in my top 3 games ever watching Hunslet! Hope we get the chance to return again one day! This trip will go down as my best away match ever. Just get your supporter's singing like us Kayakman instead of getting more excited about that silly hot dog man thing at half time, ( yes I know you're new at this ) then you will truly rock. Could you just imagine everyone in that place singing like you guys were...if it was to just happen once before I die I know I would be in Rugby Heaven...can't see it happening for a long time, but maybe one day? Until then we'll just have to stick with some of the goofy gimmicks (HEY: We like the hotdog gun!).
