I know. It was a terrible idea, even by my standards. If it's any consolation to you as an Irishman, I probably did suggest it while on the Guinness. I've been drinking that a bit too often recently.

One thing I will say again - and I hope someone from the RFL reads this forum - is that the price of the England shirt is a disgrace. £50 is completely inexcusable. I know they charge that in football and rugby union, but rugby league should be taking a different approach. I can't see any reason why the shirt shouldn't be available at £25. Surely you want people to buy it and wear it, so your sport can be seen? This is the England team and you're trying to attract fans throughout the country, and outside the heartlands. Price the shirts in a way that makes it affordable for people to get one. I'm more of a rugby league fan than most people I know down south (which isn't hard, given that nobody really cares about it down here), but even I am not prepared to pay £50 for an England shirt. That's just a rip off. Sort it out NOW, RFL! I don't care if you have to accept making less money in the short term. You need to be getting the brand seen. You won't do that if you charge stupid prices and put people off buying the merchandise. Rant over!

Does that shirt say England Lions on it? If so, they're already using the Lion on England shirt, at least at a certain level.
