Standing Ovation for a Ref...

Yup. Smith and Melbourne acting classless with his refusal to step off the pitch to stop play to get a substitution.

Clubs and players should be getting punished for blatantly taking the pee out of the authorities.

I think there should be charges for both of those teams for failing to control players.

There is nothing to charge them against.

Are you suggesting penalty counts of 10+ should be a chargeable offence?

Incorrect, there are two catch all laws in the game, one is for players; ungentlemanly conduct, the second for anyone, including clubs; bringing the game into disrepute.

I would love to be at the hearing if prosecutors tried to make either of those charges stick on a club having a high penalty count.

In the NRL at the Sharks-Storm game the ref has just sin binned Cameron Smith for backchat, the first of his career.

Hilarious response from the Sharks fans!

Ceccin having a bout of PMT, being very sensitive to suggestions about his decision making!

Storm and Smith have been getting away with lots over the years.

Even their first try in the NRL grand final last year should have been pulled up for obstruction

There were offences in the game that could easily see charges, particularly the Smith being a tool thing and the lst skirmish.

The fact that the players just got to the point where they were ignoring the officials is an issue.

No. The arrogance from Smith needed punishing. He had already marched him 10, but Smith feels his is untouchable and said more as he walked away. He then refused to leave the pitch.

But hey, in RL we reckon we are respectful to the ref.

Are we balls, those players were worse than Premier League footballers yesterday.

Yep, that Smith incident staying on the field was pretty poor. There is an offence there for sure.

We had that respect but somewhere along the road we lost it, now players wave their arms in the air and act like petulant teenagers. It has to be stamped out, if that means a season of multi binnings and high penalty counts then so be it.

If you were watching he would have been off but before he could leave the field one of the Storm trainers told him to stay while they did an interchange, some players walk off quite slowly when given a yellow there is no time penalty on this and no offence, Smith did nothing wrong!

A player must make his way from the field when ordered. He delayed leaving the pitch to allow his team to gain an advantage. That's one thing in itself. To do it after you have been sent to the sin bin is actually just taking the mick.

Clear directive at the beginning of the season and cards for anyone who ignores it. It would be cleaned up within the month (more or less).

People love saying stuff like this on forums, but as soon as you get a game like that the ref is accused of ruining the game. Gould, Vautin, Johns and co were all at it yesterday. Baz, Eddie and Tez would be exactly the same over here.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

I was about to say something about how even Lounge Room Lizard (who would offer to go to jail for Smith if invited) hadn't tried to defend his actions that brazenly, and then I saw that he had liked your post.

They don’t run the game, we need to get back to the point where refs had respect even yawnion is light years ahead of us in this.

Yes. Mind you, i think this was an isolated incident and not at all indicative of the attitude of Australian players in general, no matter what the sport.
