BroncoFan
The Australian Schoolboys tour the UK every 4 years and are due this year. The last team featured Latrell Mitchell & Brock Lamb and several others who have gone on to play NRL. Its a shame seeing how the two squads from 2014 have developed since.

Dunbar
I always look forward to and enjoy the Academy fixtures... it's fascinating to see which of the players will make it to the very top. I remember seeing James Graham many years ago and all the way through to Nick Cotric last time. Hopefully this series will unearth some future stars. Dunbar
Was just about to post that I hope to make at least one of the Aussie Schoolboy games. Anybody have any tips on who the standout players to watch out for are? "The history of the world is the history of the triumph of the heartless over the mindless." — Sir Humphrey Appleby. Anybody have any tips on who the standout players to watch out for are? From leeds theres some fantastic talent. Newman and Broadbent are two of the best center talents iv seen in years, Newmans scoring over a try a game on loan at fev in the championship already. Holroyd is a wrecking ball prop, big and atlhetic and a better prospect than Oledzki imo. Johnson is a hooker in the james Roby mold, exceptional player. Trout is a big, athletic, wide running second row, probably our 19's player of the season this year so far. Mcconnell is a nuggetty 13 with very good skills. Broadbent, Holroyd and Johnson are 1st years at academy level. My rating of these players isnt leeds bias, we'v got the best batch coming through we'v had in nearly 15 year. The two seniors from Huddersfield look very good, both played superleague this year, theyr outside backs. Morgan Smithies from wigan is abslute class, we were desperate to sign him but he chose wigan, he's another first year, a backrower with all the skills, can easily play 6. Lewis carr from cas is a try machine, give him half a chance and he gets it down. Dont know much about the other players, have heard good things about welby and simm at saints and shorrocks at wigan, but dont know enough to give a valid opinion on them. The reason i mention who the first years are is because even though theyr fantastic talents, they may give way to lads a year older.
EagleEyePie
Of the Wigan youngsters, as already mentioned, Smithies is a fantastic prospect. Strong and skilful and reads the game well. Glad we managed to beat off some strong competition to sign him because he's got bags of potential. He can play second row or down the middle. He's from Halifax and was playing amateur rugby for Siddal. Joe Shorrocks is another good back rower. Started out playing for the U19's in the second row but is now more often playing at loose forward. He doesn't look the most physically imposing player but he's got excellent ball handling ability and his running game looks effortless. He seems to make metres with the ball really easily without being a blockbusting runner. His amateur club was St Pats. One of three Wigan back rowers in the side, James McDonnell is very similar to both Smithies and Shorrocks. The club obviously look for similar traits in their back row. He's another skilful, athletic forward, good speed, runs good lines and has good defensive discipline. Picked up from St Judes. Ethan Havard is a first year prop who has already made a big impact for the under 19's. Big carries, aggressive defence. He stands out even when playing against far more experienced 3rd years. He's a typical prop, big and strong. His amateur side was St Pats but interestingly the Wigan website lists his place of birth as Sofia in Bulgaria! Harry Smith is a second year and probably the best halfback prospect Wigan have had since Williams. Came from Halton Farnworth so he's a Widnes lad. He's a very good all-rounder. His passing game is strong and he's an elusive runner. What's also impressive is his defence. He's a small halfback but has a real tenacity in defence that sees him bring down much bigger opponents. He looks like he could have a really big future. Reece Hamlett is a very powerfully built winger who has already been fast-tracked into the reserves despite only being 16. He was picked up from Leigh Miners but I think he's from Rochdale. He might not be a tall lanky winger like Joe Burgess but he's so powerfully built, especially for such a young age, that he's very much a modern winger who makes strong carries. rhinos78
We'v got a very talented group, will be fun to see how they get on this season. Very pleased with the fixture list aswel, 4 tests and 4 origin fixtures, potentially 7 rep fixtures for these lads this season. Hope a tv station picks some of these games up.
