Oh yeah, course Bradford did. Idiot. That's why there's sloped corners on their pitch.

You don't need sloped corners for Speedway, they have flat tracks. It also had Stock Car racing, not sure if it still does.

The track was slightly higher than the playing pitch and turf was rolled out to cover it for the rugby. Hence the sloped corners.

Think speedway went late 90s with stock cars making a comeback as pre- match entertainment late 2010s?

Here's a question, how many rugby league teams have shared a ground with speedway over the years? Both clubs in Hull have. Workington. Anyone else?

Doncaster's original home at York Road Stadium was used for greyhound racing, but later hosted speedway.

Minä rakastan rugbyliigaa!

Stunning business acumen form the Wakefield board when they could have bought it for a 1/10th of the price a few years ago.....

To be fair it's a loan of £3.5m, not that that will be the purchase price of the land. Hopefully it's say a £1m price tag (still a hefty profit for 88m) with £2m to get works going as owning the ground alone changes nothing.

Has as already been said, it is not officially known yet how the money will be used. It may all be for the ground and surrounding land or may be split between the purchase price of ground and other works in and around it.

There's a story behind that which is well documented, but you probably know that already.

Doing a bit of further digging it seems it is just to buy the land. Great deal for the vendor, ###### deal for Trinity, but a way forward no less. Even more hard work now trying to secure some funding streams.

Reading the report from the local paper and comments about Yorkcourt, it wouldn’t surprise me if they agreed to stump up some money to release themselves from the new stadium obligation which then finds itself directed to do up Bell Vue.

New Hunslet played at a dog track....and even had NFL style goalposts with a single post. That was late 70s.

Blackpool Borough played at a dishlickers stadium too, in the 70s and 80s.

I seriously doubt Yorkcourt will contribute anything as they don't feel there is an obligation on them to provide a new stadium regardless of how much  m2 of enabling development is constructed at Newmarket.

I think the short lived Kent Invicta club, based at Maidstone Uniteds London Road ground, had a dog track too.

Not sure if they managed a full season there before the money ran out and they reformed in Southend and had a crack there.

This was in the early 1980s.
