Hull league 2018

Recommended Posts

Is the “summer” hull league in place of the winter league or as well? If summer it should form part of yorks league as a regional division, in lower division. Looks like disappearing otherwise

Not sure if it's true but heard NHK have folded ,

I have seen on FB that if NHK don't field a team tomorrow then they are folding, so it must be true if it was on FB haha

Sad but true

  1. If nhk withdrawn, that leaves 4? If so needs a commitment of teams for next season ASAP. Looks like it won’t finish the season though. You can’t keep playing 3 teams over & over again

As I understand the situation with nhk is that the next time they don't/can't field a team the club then fold. It's a massive shame because they have just started getting some good young kids down which they have never ad in recent yrs. The league there playing in though won't benefit them. There are by far too superior to the others, I'm afraid!!

The league can't go on with 4/5 teams, The Hull and district need to get more teams involved. I hope they have already contacted the NCL teams in Hull to enter there A teams into the summer league next season, and do not leave it to late as they did this year.  They should invite Myton, Skirlaugh, West Hull etc to play friendlies against the teams playing in the summer league when they have no fixture in the YML.

Lots of moaning and finger pointing but look how many teams are playing summer excluding the NCL 1st teams and then look how many play in the winter, these numbers are roughly the same, how many players are playing both seasons ?

Carlsberg don't do Soldiers, but if they did, they would probably be Brits.

Maybe if someone talked to the other leagues / clubs around the local area things might be a little better .

Just dropping winter and starting a summer league just seems silly .

1980 - 50 teams in the Humberside league and it was played in those horrid winter months.

I reckon the demise of the pub trade has had a massive impact on the amateur game, if you look at any old BARLA books you'll see nearly every team was a pub outfit.

That could be one of the reasons clubs have come and gone , no facilities , no juniors , just surviving week to week , season to season .

Hull and district area had the biggest Saturday football league in the 80s outside of London , they played in some rubbish weather in the winter time .

Doesn't exist now , few teams play at a higher level and travel out of town for games .

Times have changed , maybe at some point a few more clubs will be able to secure grounds on long leases and secure funds / put down roots / expand even .

East Hull seem to have a decent piece of land would imagine its rented from local council (open age ) youth run out from St Richards School . Been down and nearly out but building again .

Holderness Vikings have a long lease , two good pitches , lots of junior teams but no open age . Two clubs that seem to be building for the future .

Few other teams who play NCL have good set ups .

The rest are on park pitches , local council facilities ,nothing wrong with that but its hard to grow a club without a few assets .

When I played in the Hull league many teams wouldn't travel out of town and it's not very often you get many back to back weeks of really poor weather in the winter and if you lose 3 or 4 weekends a season the summer has as many with bank holidays, magic weekends challenge cup etc

This hull and District summer league is really becoming a waste of everyone's time. I went to watch nhk v lambwath on Saturday, nhk had 12 players and won 56-8 how is this doing anyone any favours. Even the referee said he will be telling the league he doesn't want to ref this league any more. It needs scrapping I'm afraid, the committee need to see what's happening and decide the ###### up there have on the committee meetings midweek is not worth running the league for. Sad state of affairs but it's over imo!!!

Not sure it needs scrapping, but something needs to be done. The problem is the committee is very secretive, they have not laid out any plans for the future. Have they contracted the NCL clubs with regards to next season and there A teams? Have any other clubs shown any interest?  What are the plans for the future? everything seems to be done last minute.
