Clogiron
Went to get my xmas drinks yesterday, I like to try different ales & lagers out and have found that Booths have a really good selection and are very reasonably priced in comparison to the specialist shops and online retailers and their carriage charges so it makes the trip worthwhile. The downside is their clientele and the looks you endure for having a trolley full of beer, you would think I was going to park myself down in Ilkley and drink it in one go. A refined lady of around my age (old) came upto me in the checkout que and asked "Excuuse me but where did you get your wine carriers from?" I told her I had brought them with me from home "Oh, how organised you are" she replied as the earwigging others tutted and nodded having confirmation that a professional alchoholic was in their presence, conveniently overlooking the bottles of Gin,Whisky, Rum, Vodka in their baskets or trolley. Nope, people who shop at Waitrose are rarely who you'd class as "unfortunate". I'm not going to help a braying Henrietta trying to bully a staff member over a problem of her own making. Our pre-booked turkey, other meats and enough veggies to feed half of the town. Some people really need to calm down and accept things are their fault. I saw one woman shouting at a staff member for them daring to not have any turkeys left in stock. It really isn't their fault you've not learned that you need to pre-order your Christmas food if you want anything special. On the verge of a rant. Pre-order? I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly. DavidM
I’ve never even seen a Waitrose . I doubt there’s any within a couple of hours away . Griff9of13
My local shop (as in the closet to home) is a Waitrose. The nearest after that is a Marks and Spencer. Does that make me posh? Probably comes from me seeing it so often with computer games and similar. Bleep1673
Does anyone know how to report a travel story to the BBC? I have spent the last 2 hours trying to get in touch with the Idiots (Although I did use the words A21, and Hastings, so they are probably not interested outside of the M25, M62, M6, M5, M1) about an Eddie Stobart articulated lorry that overturned, just outside Hastings, blocking the main entry & exit North & South out of town, it had shead it's load, at the side of the road and looked a mess, but no-one was willing to report it, regionally, or nationally, maybe we are being overshadowed by Gatwick again. If you’re careful you can get food cheaper than Tesco and Sainsbury’s with genuinely better food. For example, I got three steaks today, really good quality steaks, for £10. You won’t get that except for pretend “steak” or really fatty gristly cuts in the other shops. Same with most of their other stuff. They do have some overpriced tat for the idiots but it’s less than you’d think. They also have their “essentials” range that I’m convinced is a trolling/PR trick to get coverage in the media.
