Boys and their toys! You need to ask Santa nicely and maybe you will get one of your own. You know you want one. ?

I have enough junk in my garage already... I'd probably get a few quid for it on eBay from some foreign chaps though.

Hmmm, must have been just the Spitfire and Hurricane then.  Didn't think I heard the heavier engines of the Lancaster.

Might of been the A400.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

The Hurricane and Spitfire have very distinctive engines. Almost unmistakable compared to anything else in the sky these days and certainly not the A400. That came in the second spread out group.

Every so often they set up a Spitfire Griffon Engine in Wigan town centre (I am sure it happens elsewhere), they fire it up a few time through the day. My office is a few hundred yards away with a lot of brickwork between me and the Merlin, but bejesus  you know its been fired up. Being up close when they run it is awesome.

Also, if you think there is a distant thunderstorm rumbling your way, that'll be the Lancaster, what a distinctive noise they make.

I've never seen (or should I say heard!) that, my little lad would love to see that, do they advertise it anywhere?

They seem to do it on armed forces day every couple of years, if I get wind of it I'll try and remember to let you know.

I'm fortunate enough to live just 29 miles by road from the BBMF, home to numerous Spitfires and the only flying Lancaster this side of the Atlantic and one of only two flying Lancasters. Was there to see both Lancasters, Vulcan and Hawk flying in formation over Lincolnshire a few years ago. I'm also fortunate to live just 20 miles by road from Just Jane, another Lancaster that is licenced to carry passengers on taxy runs up and down the runway.  The endeavour is to get the plane flying again. And yes, you can really get that close when all four engines are running!

Redundancy coming on August 31st so taking early retirement in mid September on my 55th birthday. Have lost 4 stone since pre Christmas so really looking forward to a change in lifestyle.

Only major plan currently is a trip on the trans Siberian Express with my wife!

I saw it a couple of years ago at a traction engine rally in Chipping. It really is an awesome noise.

I will take that as the compliment it was intended as. Thanks.

Hope you enjoyed yourself. Actually, I don't hope. I know you enjoyed yourself. Best regards to you and S.

I was playing Union for West London RFC one Saturday, about 2004 (my last season) & everybody stopped playing and watched a Spitfire doing a couple of 8's in the sky over Harrow. The sound of the engine was amazing. It did a turn over us and vanished to the east. All teams just stood & applauded. Home scrum to restart, no arguments. Beautiful.

I live a few miles from Duxford (the air part of the imperial war museum.) Don't even bother to look up for spitfires, biplanes, planes flying upside down etc.

My wife and I did that last summer for our honeymoon. It was the best trip of my life. Do you have an itinerary?

Not yet. I think we would like to go east to west, around October time, and to try to do it independently.

Used to go there when I was a nipper. Hope it is still just as nice. Let us know if 'the Captain's' is still there on the main street. The captain himself, he is still there, would be pushing 100.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.
