For a recognised goal kicker to have a conversion rate of 33% or less, is worrying. It would be interesting to know the conversion rate for the whole season if anybody has it, and whether it has fallen as the season as progressed. If Glover is having a difficult time scoring tries then he might have more success kicking goals. Give him the chance. Hallett could also be given a chance in the second row after some coaching. After all he has the physique and is possible fast enough for this position. His defence would have to improve though.! I didn't go to the Swinton game either so I can't comment. So you you reckon with Glover having a difficult time scoring tries by giving him the goalkicking would change that? Macaulay Hallett is suspended so that's a no no. We followed our usual preference of scoring most of our tries 2m in from touch, meaning that every conversion attempt was difficult; one hit the post and came out - had it gone the other way then we might have won. Sykes has been an outstanding kicker for us and to suggest that a change would improve results and performances is, in my view, wide of the mark (geddit?). There are a number of reasons that Glover is having problems scoring tries. Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.
