500th career appearance tonight. Some record that, whatever misdeeds he may have committed at times through his long career.

He has played for Warrington for half of my lifetime, and when he came in we were playing in front of 4,000 at Wilderspool, escaping relegation by the skin of our teeth but looking up at Halifax and London.

Nice guy off the field too. Well done Ben.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Coming up for 20 years in the pro game as well? That's some achievement, especially the way he plays the game (that isn't a back-handed compliment by the way).

He's a bit of a pantomime villain, but the sport thrives on having a few of those dotted around the place.

It's not a question of coming down to earth, Mr Duxbury. Some of us, Mr Duxbury, belong in the stars.

Thought he was finished last season and was surprised to see him get another year, but so glad he did...   since Price has come in and changed the way things are done behind the scenes it seems to have revitalised Westwood a bit.   Guess he just needed to be challenged in a different way and that’s refreshed him mentally. I’d extend his contract for another based on what he’s been doing this year, and I would think he doesn’t cost much space on the cap due to the long-serving rule?

I have said it before and I will say it again, I wouldn’t want to have his knees or back on 10 years time. He deserves every penny he has earnt.

Yeah, that's something that's often overlooked whilst players are still playing even if they're "fit" when they retire...he'll do well to avoid a couple of new knees in his late 40's or so..

Best £60,000 Wire have ever spent. 2002-2018.

I’ll let you off as the figure for Briers was £55k.   But yes, a great return on investment ?

Any other player reached 500 games in the summer era?

Great achievement.

Just had a look on Wiki: not definitive, just based on looking up a few players I thought might have got near that number. The number of Leeds players goes a long way in explaining their success down the years!

Sinfield - 565 (+18 in union)

Senior - 552 (1994-5 would have been in winter)

Peacock - 538

Burrow - 513

O'Loughlin - 460ish

Briers - 457

Wilkin - 450ish

McGuire - 430ish

JJB - 420

But how many of those has he completed?

Nice touch from Shaun Wane last night presenting Westwood with a bottle of wine and a glowing testimonial.

Didn't see it (turned the TV in a huff and took the baby for a walk) but that is good to hear. Nice one.

You can never knock Westwood for commitment, he has been involved in some great RL moments during that 500 games.

Been a great pro over the years, apart from the odd cheap shot. A player I've always admired for his graft and willingness to run his blood to water. Well done Ben.

One of those players you loved to hate but secretly admired and would have found room in any team - great servant to the game.
