Ask a question answer a question

Recommended Posts

Without the powers of our friends over at Google or Wikipedia I would like to see how people's knowledge is whatever the subject.so for example,I ask a question, somebody answers and then in turn asks a question themselves. The question could be something that has always intrigued or interested you or even led to a certain level of bewilderment. To kick things off I would like to ask, what's all this day/night collar business about that I see advertised on black cabs?

I'm struggling as well but, in the event if somebody answering it correctly, I'd like to suggest a question.

Who picks up Guide dogs poop?

Was that Bruce, head of Logical Positivism at the University of Woolloomooloo, or was it Bruce who was in charge of the sheep dip?

I'm guessing it's something about day and night shift. No idea why collar though.

I might be completely wrong

So how does the guy who drives the snow plough get to work

He takes it home with him.

Very useful for any neighbourly disputes he might have.

Why do cab drivers drive without seat belts on and never get a tug from the law?

There are some exemptions from wearing a seat belt. There is no legal requirement to wear a seat belt if you’re:

a driver who is reversing, or supervising a learner driver who is reversing

driving a goods vehicle, on deliveries, that is travelling no more than 50 metres between stops

a licensed taxi driver who is ‘plying for hire’ or carrying passengers

I’m glad airline pilots wear them . I mean , that could make all the difference in a crash

He gets the guy who is currently driving the plow to pick him up at his place, then you drop off the guy who finished his shift at his place.  Like come on...you didn't figure that one out?

Why is orange jam called Marmalade?

In much of Europe and Latin America, cognates for the English term "marmalade" are still used as a generic term for preserves of all fruits, whereas in Britain it refers solely to a citrus preserve. The name originates in Portuguese, where marmelada applies exclusively to quince jam.In Spanish the term usually refers to what in English is called jam, and jalea — used in Mexico and Central America — is similar to the American English jelly. In Italian, marmellata means any jam and marmalade, as does the German word MarmeladeI'm

I think, but I may be completely wrong, that cab drivers originally had a licence in the form of an enamel badge which they wore on the collar of their jacket.

Yes my uncle still has my grandfathers is is about 1.5" across enameled in red and white with the number in black attached to a bit of leather that had a buttonhole in it so you could hang it on your lapel, he had driven in the war (armoured cars in the desert then after a bout of malaria transports for downed planes in Southern England followed by tanks to Normandy etc) so after a spell running a pub being a cabbie seemed like a natural job for him - think he did 30 years all in

I think a policeman giving a taxi driver a tug might get in trouble. ?

Brings a new definition to "plying for hire" ?

If a passenger does a runner, in theory the seat belt may slow the driver down from giving chase, but as most of them are lard-ass chubbys I think that argument is academic.
