Could they not go by boat and have a relaxing sail back?

Another example of the laziness endemic in our game.

No reason why clubs couldn't get their players to row back, longboat-style, as both a team-building and training exercise. Think of the publicity of the Widnes Vikings, dressed as their nickname suggests and in full moose/bearskins, pulling into Liverpool harbour with a Canadian scalp or two on a spike at the front.

If the RFL had any sense, they would make it happen.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

transat fly from toronto to manchester on a saturday, monday, Tuesday, wednesday and Thursday so I dont really see a problem with this to be honest..

As AMM mentioned though this may be more down to having to take what you are given and the timing and availability of said flights with regards the fixtures for the 8s..

again a set of circumstances which may never occur again.

Indeed.

And when/if Wolfpack should reach Super League, the visiting teams will be paying their own freight. They can come over by Air Transat, Air Canada, British Airways, Icelandic,  Aer Lingus, or the Lancaster Bomber depending on their own preferences for travel day/airport.

I do chuckle at the apparent stress induced by a four-hour coach trip. The coach trip from Manchester to Hull must be, what, a couple of hours? Couple of extra sandwiches should do the trick.

Of course they would be, what buisness does not spruce the place up, everyone instructed to smile and give a positive attitude, especially when they are getting a visit from 'A factory inspector'.

Glad it was a good impression, but is Mr Elstone that naive he feels the need to comment on that aspect.

But Harry ... what if we're really like this all the time?

This is so easily solved.

Fly back on the Monday evening Manchester flight and let the players have a well earned day off.

Just need to ensure that you're not expected to play on Thursday or Friday.

But hey, this is rugby league let's have a moan and a whine over nothing.

Spot on Dave.

All the RFL have to do is organise the fixtures and make it mandatory that all teams playing in Toronto play on the Sunday afterwards.

That assumes a level of competence which the RFL doesn't demonstrate too often.

I said it on the match thread but ill say it again here. the Saturday Night slot for RL is brilliant. The triple header concept on a saturday evening was also brilliant. Three matches from three countries and two continents was also brilliant.

Stick another on there as the early Saturday kick off and That is our summer concept. That is our niche. That is where we should be hanging our hat and pushing for attention and visibility. Rugby League's Summer Saturdays from 6am to 9pm 15 hours of live RL from 5 countries and 3 continents. Sell it to Sky and get them pushing it as their football off-season offering, sell it to Betfred and get them advertising it with special accumulators. Sell it to a chain of pubs and get them offering breakfasts and lunches and drinks offers. Get Sky to give help to the community club houses on how to keep the lads in after the Saturday games.

And get Slater + Gordon to sponsor it for the lucrative divorce business.

Just remember Browny...the last time the Vikings came to Canada it was them that was scalped...they stayed...in graves!

Really?  You can't just nip to the supermarket or local shop for booze?  Is it just "hard liqour" or beer, wine etc too?

Well, its currently all in a state of change..last year they allowed supermarkets to sell wine and beer but at a slightly higher price than the government store...Walmart is in soon but the price must be higher to protect the monopoly.  All hard liquor can only be sold at the LCBO stores (Liquor Control Board of Ontario). Beer is sold at a controlled consortium of brewers outlets called the Beer Store.  You see, thats why the TWP went with the new craft brewers which have become quite popular since they can sell on site (but under tight control).  The Beer Store doesn't like selling craft beers since they are controlled by the big guys and only push their own products.

No corner stores are allowed to sell alcohol of any kind....but our new Premier is going to let them sell pot next year.

Thanks Kman, you learn something new every day.

Booze is literally everywhere here, from corner shops to petrol stations and super markets and everywhere inbetween.  In fact it's harder to find a shop that doesn't sell booze.

That might be why we have such a binge drinking at home problem.

Is that why Lamport can come across as a pub with a rugby league match in the beer garden?

Each province and territory in Canada has its own system...no booze to be sold in the territory of Nunavut period, and you are not allowed to bring any in either!  The US has a system more like yours.  You can buy beer in the corner stores in Quebec  and you can buy unopened cases of beer from the bars in B.C.

Its a crazy world sometimes...off to the bush soon.

Manchester Aiport to Hull KR’s Ground = 112 miles (approx two hours).

Glasgow Airport to Hull KR’s Ground = 274 miles (approx four and half hours).

More than double the journey “home”.

How far from Brisbane to Melbourne ?   Or Sydney to Auckland ?

You have to purchase a special license from the LCBO (government store) to sell there, the Man  always gets his cut.  If they did not have the license permit they would be shutdown in no time!.  Everyone who has a wedding or event where there is alcohol MUST buy such a permit (and when you buy the booze for the event the LCBO must see the valid permit, then charges you more than the regular price for the average consumer).  Halls/sites won't rent out to you if you are planning to have alcohol without a valid permit or they will be shut down by the cops (permanently).

Going into the Bush now for awhile.  Back again in a week or so.

So how is 2 hrs longer on a bus is going to severely effect preparation for the following weeks game exactly ?

What’s wrong with Manchester Airport I wonder?

More chance of getting a copy of a Rugby League newspaper in Glasgow arrivals.

Some of us have learnt this the hard way in Ontario. Walked round a supermarket looking dumbfounded.
