Sheffield Eagles have signed Jason Crookes from Batley Bulldogs.

The outside back had a short spell at Sheffield in 2011 when he joined on dual-registration from Bradford Bulls.

The 28-year-old has joined on a one-year contract.

Sheffield Eagles can today announce the signings of Hemel Stags duo Louis Sheriff and Sonny Esslemont on one-year contracts

Back-rower Esslemont is 24-years-old and a six-time Scotland international.

A full-back by trade, 26-year-old Sheriff will add depth to the squad and he has told Aston that he will play anywhere for the cause.

Sheffield Eagles are pleased to announce the signing of back-rower Joel Farrell from Batley Bulldogs.

The Jamaican international has put pen to paper on a one-year contract.

There is already a family/club connection between Farrell and the Eagles as his father, Anthony, played for the club in the 90s.

Aaron Brown, Josh Guzdek and James Glover have signed from fellow Betfred Championship side Dewsbury Rams.

All three players have been targets of Eagles Director of Rugby Mark Aston’s for some time and they have all joined the club on two year deals.

Sheffield Eagles can today announce the signing of Ben Pointer from Newcastle Thunder on a one-year deal. 

Pointer is a hooker / half back who has also played for London Broncos and London Skolars. 

The 22-year-old, will be jostling against fellow hookers James Davey and Greg Burns for a spot in the team

Sheffield Eagles have acquired the services of prop forwards Rory Dixon from York City Knights and Lewis Taylor from Hemel Stags.

Dixon has been part of the Hemel squad since moving to the club from York on a loan deal during 2018, while Taylor has been at the Stags while studying at Loughborough University.

Sheffield Eagles are thrilled to announce the signing of Featherstone Rovers scrum-half Anthony Thackeray on a two-year deal.

The acquisition of Thackeray is a big statement from the Eagles as they look to climb the league table after a flat first year back in the Steel City.

“There was a bit of interest (elsewhere) but just from the conversations I had with Mark, I knew I wanted to play for the Eagles.”
