Yesterday Love Rugby League stated that London's Eloi Pelissier and Newcastle Thunder's Remy Marginet had both been named in the Spainish squad for the 2021 World Cup qualifiers.

However somebody tagged the latter in Facebook to congratulate him and Remy Marginet responded by stating he isn't in the Spain squad.

He's on the RLEF press release too (which the LoveRL article is probably a copy/paste of)

He probably hasn't been asked if he wants to be in it lol

I know players can switch between tier 1 nations and the rest but what's the rule on switching between nations who are both outside of tier 1. Can Pelissier switch back to France if recalled at a later date?

As far as I'm aware the only switching can be between Tier 1 to Tier 2 or below. Having said that James Geurtjens, who has just ended his career at Coventry Bears, played for Wales and the Netherlands.

I thought you had to change countries and when that has cleared, you can be selected.  It seems the first anybody has heard of this - including the player - has been when he was selected.  I might be wrong.
