I probably would have had him in the centres. Kata and Hurrell make to many mistakes. 

He looked pretty poor when I saw him this year. Flashes of brilliance but often entwined with mistakes, either in handling or in defence

Fonua's game is built around destructive running.  As B rad points out, in this regard he was pretty effective when he played this year.  In 10 games in the NRL he averaged 142 running metres per game which is the highest for any centre in the NRL and above (Hurrell - 112M), Kata (95) and Michael Jennings (85) who are the contenders for centre in this Tonga team.

Seeing as though Hurrell and Kata are regarded essentially as strong running centres, I would say Fonua could easily be in the mix for a centre spot.

He makes more errors per game than the three mentioned above though and so Kata and Hurrell would be regarded as the safer options.
