Don't know where you get your info from??? Ryan and mewse wanted to stay. Plus Leon didn't sign them that's why he got shot of them.

Good job he didn’t do that with everyone he didn’t sign wouldn’t have had a team all year.

If tansey leatherbarra and foster were still ambling about we probably wouldn’t even be in this game anyway . We got guys totally committed . Anything else harking back to them is a totally moot nonsense point . I wouldn’t change anything , if you don’t enforce standards and discipline it gets deeper

Interesting read in the n & s. The Rfl obviously wanting to pass the book and blame everyone but themselves.

“The RFL did give Featherstone Rovers and Leigh Centurions dispensation to sign additional players ahead of last Sunday’s Championship Shield final.

But a spokesman for the governing body said the circumstances were different for Workington.

He said: “It all goes back to the meeting that was held with the Championship and League One clubs last month regarding the structure of the leagues.

“The RL board consulted with the clubs and agreed to go to a 14-team Championship and this play-off will determine the last place in that league for next season.

“The difference between this and the Leigh and Featherstone situation is that both those clubs asked for dispensation.

“Both clubs were in agreement and they were supported by the other Championship and League One clubs.

“There was no promotion or relegation issues with that match.

"In that same discussion, clubs were asked if dispensation should be granted for a play-off game and it was stated that, no it shouldn’t, because Championship status was at stake.”

I’d bet the rfl in exceptional circumstances could choose to override that if they wished .

Are we really surprised at this outcome ?

Everyone knows the RFL are a bunch of Amateur make it up as they go along bent Bastards and that is why our great game is a laughing stock amongst all other Sports. All they are interested in is having Toronto,Toulouse, and Catalans in Super League and would love to see the demise of the Sport in Cumbria as well as the likes of Batley,Keighley,Dewsbury and Wakefield.

Player Welfare should be the biggest factor in this game as neither Swinton or Workington are trying to load the team with Super League players to buy a Championship place we are only asking to have players who have already played this season to help us get 17 players available.

Even John Walsh the most unbiased Reporter/Commentator I know has said in his Newspaper Column tonight  " I wish I could say you couldn't make it up but in Rugby League's case it appears they just make it up as they go along ".

Rugby League is dying on its feet in the hands of these Clowns.

Is it a legal right for a vote of no confidence in the RFL to be taken.......moderator ????

so you can abuse the system and bring in some quality..

buy out your lads holidays if it means that much to the club

Cheers, its good to know from the very outset that you have absolutely no grasp of the situation, saved us having to read any further posts by you.

Do you work for the rfl? Seems like the kind of idiotic response you’d get from them.

Only one system been abused and that was by the rfl in implementing changes that shouldn’t have been brought in to next season. Yea we were going for Tomkins, Bateman, Williams, o loughlin but they were busy so we were settling for players who had appeared for us this year.

So reading between the lines if swinton had also asked for dispension both teams would have got it obviouisly means they are nowhere near struggling for players as town are

Possibly correct Donald, but it still doesn’t seem right that such a vital game is allowed to degenerate to this.

Sounds daft but there,s been lots of talk on here over the last week about how short town are gonna be and next to nothing about the game on the swinton forum . If any of their directors read these forums they may have pulled a fast one about not asking for extra players

Fair point . Of course we don’t know their situation . Do we take it they’re ok with players , as both would benefit from the dispensation

To me it sounds like they,ll have 17 fit players but don,t want you lot to be any stronger . As for the game we played swinton pre-season and only had 14 players think we got beat 18-12 they,re nowt special i,ve no doubt every town player will raise their game by 20% and give it their best shot.

Sorry quoted RahH by accident.

Maybe not depleted enough not to name 17, talk of Bracek Hansen & butt missing but could be all kidology & smokescreens.

Thank you to all the directors and volunteers who have tried in vain as well as doing their jobs to mediate with the RFL, unsuccessful yes but unnoticed no.

But now things ain't changing at this stage so now we need to put all focus into the game.

New heroes can step forward.

Tom Curwen & Dawson can step out of the shadow of Ollie & Fui and become stand out players, not just good but real leaders.

Jamie will step up & if he and Carl can control the game we can do this.

Good luck to the players.

Big hearts, strong minds

Up the town

Surely Leon could play a role like cooper cronk done last weekend. He hardly touched the ball, just guided them about and talked to them.

That's a good point..coaches wish they could be on the field instead of pitch side well he could for one game. There's probably a rule that prevents it.

I don't know why anyone's surprised by this, the RFL have a history of trying to suppress the ambitions of Cumbrian clubs! They allowed Carlisle & Barrow to 'merge', meaning Carlisle lost it's club. They encouraged Town & Haven to merge in 1995 to form a new Superleague club, when Town had already qualified to be an SL member, when it didn't happen & Town finished bottom of the inaugural SL, a 'parachute payment' which would have stopped the club going into administration was withheld, saying it was not 'promised', it was only mooted! The following year in November 1997, the Clubs met at the Willows in Salford to discuss a proposal from Chris Caisley (Bradford Bulls) & seconded by Maurice Lindsay (Wigan) that of four clubs who had entered administration, three should be expelled from the Rugby League, these being Workington, Keighley & Prescott, the team not included in the proposal was Hull KR. The proposal was that the funding released by expelling these clubs would be used to strengthen the 12 SL clubs. The vote was held with SL clubs having 2 votes each & all other clubs 1 vote. The vote narrowly went the way of the 3 clubs, although Prescott went into voluntary liquidation. This smacks of the same attitude. Despite publicly saying Cumbria is a 'heartland', & needs a strong presence, the fact is, the clubs along the M62 corridor hate coming here & to Whitehaven. I'm not surprised they don't want us in a higher league. I hope we can prove them wrong! UTT
