Tommy Talau is Willie’s son. Plays at 6 but could end up filling out and becoming a loose forward, got a good frame and step

Are England playing any games in the lead up to the 2 "Tests"

Don't know. The RLEF calls it "U18 International" so I don't know whether the England team is called U18 or Schoolboys.

Well this thread certainly got the interest it deserves - NOT.

I am not surprised in the least that there is so much apathy towards our game when those who claim to love the sport have nothing to comment on in something which should really stir the interest as a visit to these shores by the Australian Schoolboys to compete against the best our game in this country can serve up against them at the age level.

Personally I eagerly await this tour every 4 years, it is good to note the guys playing and observe the progress in their careers, you should all try it and get along to a game, you don't know what you are missing if you have never attended.

Totally agree Harry. I’m planning on attending the second test at Headingley. I very much look forward to these games, for the same reasons as yourself

To add some Australian insight here, the squad is missing a few of the top youngsters from this particular age group. Guys from this current u18s age that made the side last year -  Tanah Boyd, Shawn Blore, Kyle Schneider, Lindsay Smith, Bronson Xerri and David Fifita. Out of that group Fifita is the only one to have played NRL as of yet while Xerri is the only one included in this squad, however i have heard that Xerri may not in fact end up on tour due to NRL pre-season commitments. Outside of that Jock Madden (A Half) was player of the tournament at the national championships this year, while i believe Bradman Best is regarded as one of the brighter talents from the U17s age group.

Looking forward to this tour as I always find these games really fascinating.  The series we won 2-0 in 2010 saw one George Burgess absolutely terrorise the Australians.

Interesting that this year the Aussies are playing Yorkshire and Lancashire.  In 2014 they played Wigan and Leeds Academy in two pretty competitive games so I would hope that the county academy teams could go even better - I expect that the English team players will be held back though.

I hope the games are broadcast live in some way, I want to get to them but that is not always possible.

Quite a few players to watch out for:

Tom Dearden - already in Brisbane Broncos first team squad

Bradman Best - training with Newcastle Knights first team

Stephen Crichton - freakish talent. Panthers

Juwan Compain - every NRL club wanted to sign him

Francis Pele - Absolute beast and takes some stopping. Sharks

Jason Saab - He's about 6'6 wing and good under the high ball, hard to defend against. Dragons.

Tesi Niu

Star Toa

Willie Talau's son Tommy.

Thanks for the info. Hoping to get to the game at Newcastle, and possibly a couple of others. It's a shame no fixture has been scheduled for Cumbria. There have been plenty in the past.

All I can find about Tesi Niu is that he grew up in Brisbane area and went to primary school there. Given his age - about 17-18 - I'm thinking David Niu would have been in USA at this time. Could be an estranged father, an uncle, cousin.

Also, considering David Niu's name is a shortened version of Niumataiwalu, Tesi's Niu may also be the shortened version of some non-Niumataiwalu-like name. He may not even be of Fijian heritage, as was David Niu.

Short answer: NFI

I'm going to get to a game or two.

It's a long time since I watched the schoolboys. Mark Gasnier was playing centre
