Missed a fair few games through injury Yeah did miss a few games with injures but still mangaged to be our second top try scorer this year aswell but as you say we will move on just a good local we are losing. havenhater Posted November 6, 2018 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Sam has done it all as an amatuer and had a few bad injuries but he is class and Its a shame he is going as he was really good at the end of the season but fair play. Again it's my opinion we may well struggle unless Leon pulls something out of the bag. If fui and Ollie were to sign back they would be 39 and 57 years of age so couldn't be expected to play every week. As for Mellor I think there be at least a championship club in for him but we will see. Good thing is we seem to have continued our partnership with the giants coming to play again so hopefully we can get some of there youth or fringe players mamo would do. MIG45 Posted November 6, 2018 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Sam is a good player yes.... but put it into a bit of context, he was one of the top earners out of the “local” lads from what I’ve been told, does he really justify big money when he spends 50% of the season injured? Personally I would have preferred to keep him but I’m not as bothered as I would be if we’d lost say Olstrom, Doran or Miller. Only time will tell. I think its a shame he has chose to leave whatever his reasons and will be happy to have him back in future if things donr work out at haven. He's a good player, a solid player , is he X factor full back, no, is he reliable, relatively mistake free , yes and supports well which is where his tries generally come from. Not sure if he'll get full back as Haven have signed Burns back on. Another poster said burns will play centre, but they've got Parker, mossop, Taylor & possibly Holliday for that position. So could be a wing birth if Sam goes there which is a backward step after he became No1 full back here. Good luck to him if he goes. He will have his reasons. Never heard a bad word said about him. Rooke's first game for us was as FB and I see a lot of potential there. He will offer a lot more in attack than Forrester who was sound defensively sure but I like to see more threat at FB and I think that's what Rooke would provide. Sam and Scott aren’t in the same bracket unfortunately, but I’m sure their wages will reflect that. Sam’s replacement needs to be better than he was or it’s a backward step. Mellor would do for me.
