Jason Tali proved to be an invaluable asset throughout the 2018 season showing his power and ruthless streak on the left edge.

The Papua New Guinea international began the season with two tries in the opening day victory over Coventry Bears at the Keepmoat Stadium. He followed that up with four tries against amateur side Myton Warriors, as the Dons progressed through to the Challenge Cup fourth round. He then went four games without a try, before powering over for a score against North Wales Crusaders as the Dons won 28-20.

Tali scored two tries in the victory over Hemel Stags, before crossing in the cup defeat against Betfred Championship side Featherstone Rovers. He continued his strong start to the season with another double against West Wales Raiders, and then a late consolation try in the trip to Oldham. The 31-year-old scored against Bradford before signing a new three-year deal with the club midway through July. The deal brought the best out of Tali, who scored in a game three days later away at Hunslet.

A try against London Skolars followed, before he scored a brace of tries against his former side Newcastle Thunder at the Keepmoat Stadium. He secured the top try-scorer accolade with a smart finish against Keighley, before another double in the Dons’ final away game of the season against North Wales Crusaders. His final try of the season came in the Betfred League One play-off semi-final defeat to Workington Town, and with his future at the club secured, he could well be a big player once more in 2019.
