Leigh appoint John Duffy as head coach

Leigh Centurions Appoint John Duffy As Head Coach

Leigh Centurions are aware of a press release published by Featherstone Rovers and can confirm that the Club is taking legal advice in respect of the release.

In light of the pending advice, the Club does not believe that it is appropriate to provide a substantive response apart from putting on record that it requested, on several occasions, the alleged contract between Featherstone and John Duffy. Despite these numerous requests, this has not been provided.

At no time did John Duffy sign a further contract with Featherstone Rovers nor did he verbally agree to remain their coach beyond the 2018 season. Further, on 20 November 2018, Featherstone terminated the original contract with him.

Therefore, John Duffy is not contractually bound to Featherstone.

In light of the above and having taken legal advice, the Club strongly believe that it has acted both morally and professionally throughout this matter and is delighted to confirm that today John has agreed a deal to become Head Coach.

Duffy, 38, heads a new-look coaching team at Leigh Sports Village with Paul Anderson continuing his role as assistant coach while Micky Higham will continue his illustrious playing career combined with the role of conditioner.

It seems Mr Beaumont enjoys seeking legal advice.

A fairly costly means of enjoyment.

A potential court case involving 2 players - Evans and Larroyer - even if that has concluded.

Rumours abound about payment to LSV.

Court appearance regarding the Lamborghini car - even though he admitted to the reason why there was no front number plate.

Now a dispute with another Championship club about a contract with a head coach he approached.

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

Kevin Larroyer doesn't have much luck

disgusting by delicious degsy in trying to induce players and staff to break contracts, a truly despicable person.

Delicious degsy? Does he smell nice?

Also, which players exactly are he inducing to break contracts?

Edit - it's also worth mentioning this article in the YEP:

Duffy signed a contract extension, to the end of 2020, in April, but revealed that hinged on Rovers securing a top-four spot. “I’m waiting for the club to speak to me at the moment,” he said.

He had another year of his contract to run but if he doesn't want to stay then get shut, he was overrated anyway. Poor goal kicker and injury pronged but the ironic thing is it was a player from his beloved Leigh that put him out of the game for months, the irony lol!

We better be getting a lot on loan from Leeds at this rate.....doesn't sound good that fev are openly advertising the coaches job now.....thought we'd have someone lined up cos I think we all knew Duffy wasn't gonna be here for next season.

Shame about Ridyard but he was on a big contract and he's approaching 33 with injury problems....probably good business moving him on

Never? Would you want someone at Leigh if their heart wasn't in it?

He is back to being his arrogant self. Can not debate anything about Leigh, thinks Derek Beaumont is god almighty himself. Sod the poor players who have lost healthy livelihoods because of his awful decisions.

I actually think he is a wind up merchant to get bites now where as I used to think he was a deluded fan

Most definatley not.

But does that not also apply to those clearly who are employed at another club, that being Leeds players who are shunted out to Fev being surplus to requirement at their home club when quite clearly their heart is in another place.

I really hope that Leigh do not go down this path of DR, it is an abomination, a wart on the R'sole of Rugby League.
