Very sad , the theories outside of the worst seem very far fetched but I guess you can just hope until there’s finality. Got to say I was a bit surprised he was coming on his own tbh , footballers usually come with a little entourage and agent .  Now that’s seems a blessing , really terrible story

Brilliant writer on football but I never shared his enthusiasm for boxing or horse racing.

There was no doubt about his writing ability but he didn't appear to share our enthusiasm for Rugby League. I don't recall him ever writing an article about our game, which was a great shame. The RFL used to hold an annual event at The Ivy in London, to which it would invite all the leading sports writers in the country, including McIlvanney, hoping they would see the light, but it was largely money wasted.

See footballers are no longer wearing black arm bands for Sala after his family told the FA to stop it . I noticed his last night and earlier today and thought it was a bit inappropriate before any final news is in . If someone at the FA decided this unilaterally then there’s questions to be answered .

To be fair to the FA I think the family are deluding themselves if they think he’s going to be found alive now. Obviously though they FA are right to adhere to the family’s wishes.

Like over 99% of the UK population in having no enthusiasm for Rugby League I m afraid.

strange. I was just thinking about my dad today, its been a while and although it does get easier and life doesn't stop for a break I still have weird dreams that hes still here, take it all in your stride mate and don't try to make too much sense of it is all I can say.

This. Same with my mum, I dream about her and regularly think i’ll Just tell her something.... 5 years on Feb 17th- who knows where the time goes?

mind you, 62 was no age at all.

definitely gets easier though, sort of. Different might be a better word. It gets progressively different.
