Top bloke I liked Illingworth when he used to do some of the Co-commentary on the tv when the BBC has test matches. But i wished his wife would have told him to get his Bobby Charlton sorted out. I bought the Mike and Micky CD last summer and be sounded in great voice. There is only Micky Dolenz left now of course. I went to their show in San Antonio a few months ago. Not a lot of projection anymore but when he sang a couple of songs backed by acoustic guitar only I thought he still had a lovely country voice.

One of our somewhat feeble claims to fame is being on the same ferry as her from Athens to Aegina when she was suffering a bit (well a lot) from sea sickness. Old Frightful
Very sad news about Janice Long, reunited with her brother Cheggers. Despite looking (with respect) like an ordinary gal, she became a very prominent figure in female music broadcasting and great credit to her for that. And as has been already stated, only 66?, no age. RIP Janice. xx Hull FC....The Sons of God... unapologetic pedant
Janice Long`s Radio 1 weekday evening show was essential listening in the mid-80s. Along with the music and related guests, there was a magazine flavour with items on social topics and John Walters` music press review. All of which struck the perfect balance between Daytime and Peel. Off the top of my head, these are 10 records that in my mind are forever associated with the Janice Long Show - Killing Joke - Love like blood The Cult - She sells sanctuary The Cure - In between days Husker Du - Sorry somehow The Smiths - Panic It`s Immaterial - Driving away from home P.I.L. - Home Weather Prophets - Almost prayed Siouxsie and the Banshees - Candyman Julian Cope - World shut your mouth

Wouldn't disagree with that. I used to listen to her show a lot with my girlfriend at the time, 8-10 before John Peel IIRC. A couple more tracks I always associate with her show were Bronski Beat 'Smalltown Boy' which obviously became a big hit but she played it well before that. Another is more obscure but is Red Guitars 'Good Technology' who I *think* were from Hull.

Bedford Roughyed
RIP John Madden 2 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game.
