Tell you what, those Gregg's vegan sausage rolls are bloody nice!

I had a vegan sweet potato curry for my tea last night. Was very nice.

It would have been funnier if his tweet had said he was "asking to meat with Arriva".

Then again, perhaps not.

Veganism is a sign of the marxist leftie hipster cuck silent takeover of the UK.  Its PC gone mad.  They will be banning beef burgers next.  Bring back national service, the cane and tripe.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

There's a running club called Vegan Runners. They are often very well represented at Hastings parkrun.

A few months ago, a parkrun newbie (not me, I hasten to add) got talking to them. A vegetarian, but not vegan, she was interested in how they maintained a vegan lifestyle whilst also being keen runners and she would be really interested in finding out more.

That's great, replied one of the vegans. We often have a meet up after the run, come along. By that green van.

A meet up, our vegetarian replies, and then adds: shouldn't that be a veg up?

The vegans looked like she'd just announced she'd killed their collective firstborn in front of them.

I don't think that's funny, one replied, maybe the meet up's not for you.

That was quite funny actually . Looks like they got a narrow escape if they’ve zero sense of humour

It was really odd, not least because normally they are really friendly and chatty with everyone.

Did you read the Piers -v- Greggs tweet exchange over this the other day?  It was hilarious!  Well, I thought so.  I think both Piers and whoever runs Greggs Twitter account knew exactly what they were doing as the set up was just too well timed but it was really funny nonetheless.

I went on a fitness boot camp 18 months ago... the food was freshly prepared and contained no meat or animal products (in short a vegan diet) it was delicious

my first meal following was a burger... followed by a sausage sandwich for breakfast... which was also delicious

He comes across as a bit daft but that's only because he's trying to protect his constituents in the wrong decade.  If he'd said this even ten years ago then chances are there would have been a big 'hear hear!' from all and sundry.

So he’s an incompetent who is at least ten years out of date?

And that’s the best defence you can muster?

I worked with a vegan many years ago. Plastic shoes, crimplene trousers, pallid complexion, skinny as a skinny thing on a starvation diet.  Working on the DEW line had affected him.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distant_Early_Warning_Line for you youngsters.

Now it seems his use of man made fibres was contributing to the pollution of our oceans  with microscopic plastic fibres.

One thing, though. Vegetarians used to be considered a bit wacky, malnutritioned etc. wereas vegans are cool and trendy, even though in practice they are the same.  Lots of respect for vegetarians, lots of respect for vegans. No respect for vegetarians who parade as vegans.

Some might suggest that vegan/vegetarian foods are promoted aggressively by the supermarkets/food industry to sell a range of overpriced tosh to gullable people wittness the supplements in today's papers and their own magazine's. Me, I'm too busy eating a sausage sandwich to say anything.

Actually, vegan food is healthy right?

Vegan food in general is healthier than non vegan food in general.

The Greggs vegan sausage roll is no healther than the rest of its range.

I am going to stick up for vegans.

I did know a vegan who was quiet about it.  The think was, you would not know about it, so the good example was invisible.

She also made the point to me that there is a ###### type of man whose only pride in his masculininity is in eating steak and watching (but not playing) tough sport.  They went on about it too.

The veggie claim is sometimes that if you would not be willing to kill the animal, you should not get to eat it.  I would kill the animal, but I would not keep a chicken in a shoebox for its life just to save a bit of money, so I should be consistent there at least.

And, eating commercial meat is far worse for the environment that most things targeting as an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

It is a big commitment to switch though.  I means a lot of lentils and a new basis to the diet rather than just replacing.

I often say to people Id maybe have a go at being vegetarian or vegan or whatever if it wasnt for the existence of bacon and sausages and steak and lamb chops and cornish pasties and steak pies and chicken curries and beef curries and lamb curries and duck curries and fish and chips and shepherds pie and burgers and bbq chicken and many other meat products which Im struggling to keep listing cos Im now massively salivating over the thought of a massive bacon and sausage and egg and bean buttie! Sigh.......
