New gym routine is really fun so far! I think having a coach has made me buy into the process even more too. Currently my routine is 4 gym sessions, 2 speed and 2 fitness sessions per week, along with rugby once a week too. Rugby coaching has started again these last few weeks though, so thatll typically be 4 days a week. I would do more if I had the time.

Did 5k on the rower in 25 minutes today with it feeling pretty comfortable. Curious to see how much I can improve that in the coming weeks.

Based on your fitness, you should be smashing 20 mins.

The 2k is the true test

Yeah that definitely feels feasible! This stage of my off-season is more about building a base for things to come so the intensity is somewhat limited. I've done a 7:30 2k previously, I'm not particularly built for rowing though!

It's a 'rest' day today, went swimmimg for the first time in years! Followed by 2 hours of rugby coaching and some yoga.

I’ve a 2k time trial on Thursday. Aim is less than 7 minutes. This has been my goal for years and years but injuries have always thwarted me. My best is 7:00:1

Card game today. 4 suits is either burpees, press ups, squats or lunges per leg. Ace is 15, King 13 and then down to 2. All 52 cards at random in the sun absolutely battered me today.

Ashford 10k on Sunday. It's meant to be a soggy one.

I am getting my excuses in early and will blame the rain, whether it arrives or not, for my slow time.

Bad news, some teenagers are getting the better of me in boxing. The good news is they are going on to have winning records.

Had the honeymoon, but trying to get back into shape.

Ashford 10k. Done.

Chip time of 53:58 and a “gun” time of 54:44. I will very much take that.

Been crocked since September 5th, not the best prep for the 5K on October 20th but will still run what I can and walk the rest.  Having to up the painkiller usage killed any appetite I had so I'm now down to 170.5 lbs.

5517m in 25 minutes on the rower so 2:15/500m. Still not maximal, just gradually getting better. Had a bit of an easing off period in the weights, just building a base for the months to come. Programme is worth the money so far!

Im dreading my 1st row when i go home.

Keep at it

Just a reminder whilst im about bottles of champagne deep...

I did 2k in under 7 mins.

1st row back wasnt that bad. 10*20 secs with 2 mins rest. Managed to hit 1:19 pace which was mega surprising.

Weight: 118. Gulp

144.3 ?

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Amended.

I blame the RFU, I spent a lot of the weekend watching Rugby eating snacks drinking tea which is why I put on half a kilo.
