The Dons produced a spirited display but were ultimately beaten 60-0 by Super League side Leeds Rhinos in their second pre-season game of 2019.

Kyle Kesik started the game as part of his 12 month testimonial, as granted to him by the RFL.

After a cagey opening 10 minutes or so, a strong Leeds side struck first as prop forward Mikolaj Oledzki collected the ball close to the line and powered his way over.

The Dons almost hit back within six minutes as half-back Jordan Howden went through a gap to go over, but the referee called play back for an obstruction in the build-up.

The Rhinos took advantage and extended their lead when back-rower Owen Trout weaved his way inside to score.

Back-to-back tries then followed for Dave Furner’s side as the game passed the half-hour mark, with Anthony Mullally and Jack Ormondroyd the men to take advantage.

There was still time for a fifth try from the visitors before the break, as highly rated centre Harry Newman got on the end of an offload to cross in the left corner.

Leeds were first off the mark in the second-half as Brad Dwyer twisted away from the Dons defence to stretch his way over the line.

The Dons threatened to get on the board 10 minutes later as Matty Chrimes found space down the right, before his pass inside went to ground to let Leeds off the hook.

The Rhinos’ then showed their class in the final quarter, as Trout and Newman finished the game with two tries each, along with scores from James Donaldson, Jack Broadbent and Cameron Smith to give the score-line a more emphatic look.
