throwing his career away signing for the dolphins instead of been part of the young broncos dynasty- just like addo carr and kikau have done at the dogs

I was very critical of the Dolphins initial recruitment for season 2023, even though it was undoubtedly a tough job in their inability to land a major star was concerning.

Despite their performance this season it did become evident that they had landed a few gems, namely Tom Gilbert (not one that I'd doubted but nonetheless), Jeremy Marshall-King, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and potentially most importantly Isaiya Katoa. Within those players was a nucleus that the side can build around from 2024 onward, however they've since gone out and recruited much better for the 2024 season. Farnworth, Flegler (another team member that has starred for the Broncs this season) and Averillo are 3 quality players that each improve positions the Dolphins particularly struggled with this year. Add another season for their youngsters like Isaiya Katoa and I think they'll be a genuine improver next season.

No doubt a downgrade on the Broncos but by all reports Herbie didn't believe the offer he received was a fair price for his services so it would've been a difficult choice to make. Certainly think long-term there were worse choices for him to make though.

Isn’t he also looking to play fullback which isn’t going to happen at the Broncos.

Broncos juggling with the salary cap given the number of low paid young stars who were coming off contract.

I'm guessing Walsh and Mam's next contracts will have extree zeroes on the end., for a start.

Alex Young to Easts - Not sure if he'll have any involvement with their NRL squad at all, but everything I've seen says it's an NRL contract (if that means anything at all).

Alex Young is joining the chookies probably won’t play much but he’ll be in the top 30 squad.

As a roosters fan I’m really excited for Murphy Quick, Strong, Tall, Like a young Tom Johnstone. He’s got a heap of potential, I doubt he’ll start this year but with all the injuries we usually get he will be very important.

You have Victor Radley at the Roosters. Jackson Hastings at Newcastle Knights and King at Canterbury Bulldogs (who has declared he wants to play for England) Also Bailey Hogson who was contracted at Newcastle Knights. Unsure if he has been picked up by another club in the NRL.

Alex Young is heading across on a development contract slot for 2024 with a mutual option for a top 30 spot in 2025.

Dom and Murphy are both going but neither has been officially announced yet, pretty widely acknowledged that the Roosters need to get some coin off their books next season to make them compliant before announcing the likes of Young. Angus Crichton heading to RU would've solved that problem but Rugby Australia pulled their offer.

Hodgson was released out of the final year of his Knights contract - which is a shame because in glimpses during preseason he definitely has talent. He's had a lot of injuries for a 21-year-old unfortunately. Haven't seen that he's signed anywhere else yet, so will be interesting to see if he sticks it out down under (maybe drops into NSW cup?) or comes back to SL.

Hodgson was only contracted to the Knights until the end of 2023 and the Knights opted not to offer him a new contract, ended up with yet another season-ending injury that required surgery - one of those unlucky ones with a body that has let him down so far.

Played pretty well in NSW Cup in the limited gametime he got across the 3 seasons he had here, would be able to pick up a NSW/QLD Cup contract somewhere if he really wanted to stay in Australia.

Ah my bad - I thought I'd read he signed a 3-year deal in 2021, but assuming now that meant inclusive of 2021 👍

From a lifestyle perspective, I could well see him staying down there, but if he wants to have a stab at playing first grade in NRL or SL I think he needs to come back to the UK. Find a spot at SL club (who'll be interested if he's injury free) and then if his longer-term ambition is to go back to the NRL he can get the game time and exposure he needs.

Bailey Hodgson signed by Manly.

I assume Riley Dean will be in the same category as Alex Young and won't go on the list, because he is unlikely to be in the NQ Cowboys' NRL squad and will be playing for Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup.
