Smith is a shocker, he played a significant role in our relegation from SL and makes no mistake by his actions with the whistle of his hate for all things Leyth. Someone said someone gave him a right earful at HT

That will be about right. Cos he came out and made sure Fev got little possession after half time. ???

Yeah, that must have been it? They must have scared him more than the Taliban?

There's nothing wrong with referees. They are not biased, they are not influenced by the crowd, players or coaches. They don't find penalties just to balance things up. Most importantly they give every decision as they see it whichever team(s) they are refereeing without any preconceived ideas as to what implications those decisions might have.

Anyone suggesting otherwise should be ridiculed.

Well that's what some people seem to think anyway.....

He doesn’t seem to like fev much either to be honest :) .

fair play to Leigh yesterday they came out in the second half and bossed the game. Ridy and Richardson much more effective at half back than the Boas bros sadly

Hang on a minute. What we have previously discussed on here is whether refs are deliberately biased against Fev,  especially at crucial stages.

Debating whether they are influenced by crowd, players or coaches is a completely different matter. We shout "get em onside" or "forward" for a reason, same as players flop about in the tackle or appeal for penalties for a reason. There's a pretty big difference between being susceptible to pressure in that way, which is just normal human weakness, and being deliberately biased against one team.

Now, now, come on Phantom, have you not seen the highlights? It was the ref that knocked the ball out of Newman's hands, it was the ref that didn't slide across to tackle McNally, it was the ref that missed all the tackles on Ridyard, it was the ref that 'spear tackled' one of their players, it was the ref that couldn't defend 3 last tackle plays resulting in tries. It is clearly all the refs fault!

on a slightly different tack ,does anyone know if we are to sue that  "turncoat, I don't believe in contracts Duffy", or are we just going to forget it ??

Commenting on a refs performance from the highlights alone ?  Your blinkered defence of them gets worse !

Only watched the highlights after being at the game on Sunday. The game was lost on 3 woeful goal line efforts for Leigh's second half tries when they were gifted field position by silly penalties. Cooper's flop on McNally, as non-aggressive as it was, was still adding weight after he was tackled, penalty. Next try Cooper and Lockwood tackled the man to the floor after the ref shouted held, penalty. No conspiracy, no mistake, just poor discipline.

And how many times during a game are players flung to the floor after the ref indicates that he is held. Very, very rare is a penalty awarded.

there is no conspiracy against us but all i will say is a ref if he wanted to could give a penalty nearly every bit of contact and play the ball in a game, some are just very poor refs and the bloke we had sun falls into that category he should go back to Afghanistan and leave us alone

I understand you reached a settlement with him due to deformation of character, booked a nice holiday with it I believe - Barbados 5* AI for all the family next Autumn half term

I've just managed to watch the full match on Rovers TV, what a fantastic commentary pair the two Jo(e)'s make! Though disappointed with the outcome I'm not desponded and very optimistic for the upcoming games. After all, Fev couldn't have complained if Brad Day had been sent off, which equals out the second half penalty count. It was the weakness on the bench that was the telling factor, i.e. the illness to John Davies and Locky, although the latter did play when he wasn't well enough to. Then the injury to Jackie O, although he did continue to play with lesser effectiveness. This forced Coops to play many more minutes than he's used to and the whole pack was blowing throughout the second half storm that Leigh threw at them. The originally intended bench if fully fit and not suffering from illness would probably have held out?

The positives are the superb tries that were scored, especially through the left wing partnership of Briscoe and Teteh, I was worried that Thompson couldn't pass before now but I take it all back. Everyone was raving about Ridyard, but if it hadn't been for that fantastic chase back by Pownall, Watson Boas would have scored, and after his second half try everyone would have been raving about him....I think he's more of a 6 than a 7, although it makes no difference nowadays. Also, the game would have been much closer if the tries had been converted, although the linesman taking Turner 5 metres further out to the touchline after Newman's try was criminal and must be reported to the RFL!
