Richard Horne was pleased with his side’s reaction after they produced a stunning comeback to beat Newcastle Thunder 32-26.

28 second-half points saw the Dons earn their first two points of the season after finding themselves 22-4 down at Kingston Park.

He said: “It was a crazy game, we didn’t play with any shape in the first-half and made it pretty easy for them to defend.

“Our kicks weren’t getting us far enough down field and they had a lot of sets, we flipped that after the break which gave us a chance to win the game.

“We knew we had to shape up better if we were to have a chance, once we got a couple of early tries the belief and momentum came with it.”

The Dons saw out some late Thunder pressure to secure the win, and Horne was proud of their determination to give everything for the cause.

He added: “We’ve spoken about working hard for each other, and making sure you know the man on the inside has got your back if you do make an error.

“They showed that in abundance in the second-half, we’re happy with the result and we still have things to work on.

“Looking at their first-half performance you can see why people fancy them, but we executed well and scored some nice tries.”

The Dons return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Hunslet this weekend. You can purchase tickets now from tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.
