23-24 Feb: The Betfred League 1 Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Bears have loaned a trio of Broncos to fill gaps in the squad caused by injuries.

James Meadows, Rob Butler and Sam Davis are all in the 19 announced by Tsangy for this game.

Hopefully we'll get the second half Thunder on Sunday but I do fear they'll want to get that one out of their system and be a lot fitter.

  Helping the youngsters develop,then.

I assume you’re being sarcastic. Playing alongside players like Washbrook who, whilst being in the twilight of his career, still has plenty of experience to pass on to the younger players. Assuming he plays of course. If you weren’t being sarcastic then yes, you’re right.

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG

Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT

Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG

Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

No report of the game. Clearly WWR are a much better team this season, which I’m really pleased about. Not sure whether Skolars are a bit rusty or not fully jelling yet as it seems like Raiders dominated for spells. Early days of course but pleased to get a win.

We are hopeless. We struggled to beat west wales who in my opinion won’t win a game this season. We had several duel reg players join the squad this week and without them we would’ve been beaten. Lack of creativity is a worry and with 4/5 of our players with superleague experience I expect better. Another season of poor results where we will be lucky to finish 3rd from bottom below west wales and keighly. Now for the lng drive back from west wales to north London

My word, you’re the worst. One game in. West Wales are lightyears from the side they were.

  I'm a bit disappointed,at the moment,but I'll join in.

We have a new head coach.Several new signings.A new spine to the side and a whole host of new combinations that have to gel.

We only had one pre-season game, open to the public, and then the loss to Coventry last week.

Being part time the head coach only has a couple of hours,a couple of nights a week,to try and improve things, yet there did seem  a bit of deja vu held over from last week.

The first 2 scorelines from last year were,if Wikipedia is to be believed,a loss of 18 -70 at home to Doncaster and 74-6 loss away at Workington. The original first game, scheduled v Newcastle Thunder, when played in June was a 20-82 loss.

Significant signs of improvement in scorelines, alone.

It was interesting to see the Skolars head coach,Mr Coleman, don the yellow T-shirt and spend lengthy periods of time on the pitch.

He was the only head coach who had the chutzpah to go onto the Betfred League 1 radio show and state our players were 'grubby'.This was last year.

Last year we were nowhere near the opposition.

I'll stick with judging rugby league sides once the Easter period is out of the way.

I disagree that we were worse today, overall.Yet another pass to the opposition referred to as an interception, and 2 defensive errors and things may have been totally different.

I disagree with your assertion that West Wales Raiders will not win a game this season. But delighted if opposition coaches and players believe this to be true.

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

I’m with you on that . I’ve seen it a few times and he seems to revel in the crowd getting wound up !

So who do you realistically expect to beat?

I agree the scores were far worse your first two games last season but the opposition was far better than you have met this season. Coach Colman should worry about coaching his team during the week and let them think for themselves when playing not spend the game on the pitch coaching them. He has done it for years and whatever he is doing isn’t really working. I thought our new signings were terrible
