There is a great opportunity here for Hemel!...the lack of vision by many on this site is shocking, and yet tragic at the same time.

Think about it for a moment...just take a second to think about things for a moment before reverting, like so many are prone to do, to a defacto negative position.

Firstly, the team would be hybrid in nature due to weather....splitting the season between a NA base and a Hemel base....top quality rugby back to Hemel with a whole new angle....the positive extrapolations for Hemel are endless...pathway to higher leagues for Hemel players....financial security...new partnerships...international exposure....etc.....etc....

Grasp this moment Hemel.....a gift horse (a stallion) has magically appeared to you and opened its mouth even....put the halter on that baby right now!!!!!!  Its could be one hell of a ride to the Promised Land!

Onwards and upwards....SEIZE THE DAY!

Stallion or possibly a Unicorn. One of the two.

Either or, it would be a ride to remember.  I really think this is very positive news and hopefully true....this could be the start of great things for Hemel...Perez has a knack for getting things done....he has done it before with the Wolfpack.

"Run With The Stags" -might need a name change and makeover though, need to remain flexible.

"Buying a Licence" might be a bit like the £500,000 "bond" bandied about in other recent contexts?

Gloucester are  definitely making the Southern Conference their priority. They seem to have maybe jumped the gun by getting their fixture list out before the official announcement happened. According to Wikipedia Oxford have merged with the Gloucester All Golds. One interesting thing about the Southern Conference is their is no automatic promotion route. Although some of the participant clubs have expressed a wish that this may change. So, as things stand there is no automatic relegation from League 1 and there is no guaranteed promotion from the Southern Conference. Clubs would have to make their own case.

Wikipedia is wrong. There were discussions about merging the two and becoming Bristol however a key figure backed out. The idea was then dropped. There was no merger and I'd be very surprised if Oxford's parent company still exists to merge with anyone.

I hope to catch a game or two at Hemel this year so hope whatever is going on is in the long term interests of a southern club who actually own their own ground.....

And on that note, good to see some fixtures finally in place. Looking forward to heading down a few times, hopefully to see some games where Hemel have a chance of a positive result!

I lived down South for 10 years and i would shudder at the thought of living in Hastings, Margate,  Folkestone or any them dilapidated seaside towns.

Margate is the new Brighton nowadays.

To far too many here it's not a gift horse, it's a Trojan horse, all part of the sneaky North American plot to destroy the game in the heartland.

Has the story been verified?

I haven't seen anything to suggest any sort of verification. There seems to be lots of stuff getting rehashed from Twitter that goes back half a year. I hope one of the journalists pops up to Hemel and does an interview or asks for a statement. Get the story straight from the Stags mouth ?

Do the winners of the SCL gain promotion to League 1? If not why are the calling it the 4th tier?

No, for reasons unknown, there is no promotion / relegation between League 1 and the Southern Conference. Calling it the 4th tier only works in the sense that it is the next level of skill and scale beyond League 1. But then why call what is effectively the 3rd Division League 1? ?

In a previous post I made the mistake of referring to Gloucester, when I should have said All Golds.

As a point of clarification, they did not jump the gun with their fixture announcement, the Western section having been given permission to do so. Most probably because the team line up had been confirmed earlier, whilst talks were still on going in the Eastern section.

Wishing the All Golds good fortune and good sport in the new season. Thanks for your best wishes and message of support.

They do it in association football - so the RFL copied.

In association football the division beneath the Premier League became The Championship, then the division below that became League 1.

The League 1 in our sport, was titled National League 2 but with those pesky French and Canadian clubs it extended beyond National.

We had best ignore any reference to those pesky Welsh clubs and the sluggish RFL.

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.
