Ethiopian Airlines has a womens staffed flight to Oslo. Women air crew, and ground staff only. If an airline decided to crew male only, it would be declared sexist, why isn't this? Sexism is discriminatory whichever way it is, anti female, or anti male, it is sexism

The reason it isn't because (air crew aside) the industry is very predominantly male, many flights will go with an almost fully male line up (against probably aside from the air crew) and eyelids are never batted. This is really for show, and what its showing is that women are just as capable in these roles as men, which of course they are.

My only worry here is that I could be accused (possibly rightly) of mansplaining it.

I thought mansplaining was when you patronisingly (and the root of that word is very appropriate) explain things to a woman, especially one who is fully aware of what you're saying.

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

Fair enough, although I'm not sure of Bleeps gender ;)

Sometimes it really does need to be pointed out to folk.  I was at a meeting of all the NHS Chief Execs for the area yesterday and every one was a man.  When you think "are there REALLY no women who could do these jobs?" you either take a sexist view or recognise that there is a problem.

It's the same with a meeting I had with NHS commissioners and clinicians a few weeks ago, on the clinicians side it was a diverse group of men and women from all cultures and backgrounds, on the commissioners' side EVERY ONE was a white person except for the woman taking minutes in the corner who wasn't allowed a seat at the table.  When you think "are there REALLY no non-white people in this area who could do those senior jobs?" you either take a racist view or recognise that there is a problem.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out that there is still a problem in society.

That's when the ball pitches in the line of the wickets (that's the three sticks at each end with the dinky little sticks on top) or outside (but only the side opposite where the player stands) and then.. oh, never mind love, go and make the teas.

They self-identify as a Swinton fan.

Because issues such as racism and sexism have been conveniently redefined by certain people. It used to mean that someone was racist just for expressing a dislike of another race or sexist for expressing a dislike of the opposite  gender. However these days, these issues need to be backed by some sort of systematic power for it to be considered real. So you as a man can be sexist because you have systematic power. A woman can’t be sexist because women don’t have power in society. Just like black people can’t be racist

Never has the phrase quacks like a duck, walks like a duck been more appropriate...

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

If women or non-whites are being stopped from having those jobs because of their gender or race then HELL YES there is a problem! However if those white men are the best qualified person for the job then no, there is not a problem.

Richard Herring is on his annual campaign

I see that Castleford's Oliver Holmes was one of the dullards he had to reply to.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

If only Richard Herring was a TRL forum member. I think he'd enjoy this thread...

I was being a bit mischievous in starting this thread, so I used the Herring twitter account as a light-hearted angle.

It still went the same way as expected though!
