Wouldn’t it?

I highly doubt it. Barcelona have definitely been a significant factor with their own promotion, club affiliation will help too, the fact it's Barcelona also helps get local coverage and such a well known stadium is extra incentive for travelling fans.

Now they have broken 30k, if any other team want to beat that, they are going to have to get clever.

Leeds wanted to break the old record last year when they played Cas at Elland Road but they decided to play on a Friday night and got a respectable 23K. I think they’d have had it on a Sunday they’d have got 25k + but 30K may  be hard to beat

Except it probably wouldn't have been 26241 in the Espanyol ground.

Be great if they could book it now to play the SL champions this time next year and break 30,000 to get some momentum going for the occasion.

You’d never get Catalans to attend the espanyol ground, the espanyol club are seen as the club of the guardian civile and of Castilian oppression

Espanyol, the other Football side from Barcelona, have a new, modern 40,500 seater stadium, the crowd would have looked good in that but it looks what it is in the Camp Nou, sparsely attended.

Pretty sure Catalans fans wouldn't quite travel to that ground in the numbers they did, and the locals definitely wouldn't support a "Catalan" team at that ground.

Not to mention the same promotion by the football club wouldn't happen, as well as the prestige and attraction of a ground like Nou Camp.

But yeah, good idea otherwise...

Yes, that's one of the reasons on why I thought the crowd would be lower at Espanyol rather than Camp Nou, the other being that I know several people who went specifically because of where the match was held.

To clarify my original post I meant book the Camp Nou again to play the Champions next season

Yeh, but if they sit staring at less empty seats when the game is on, I'm sure they won't mind. All this historic oppression stuff riles nobody really when put in the context of thousands of empty seats at a rugby match. They'll soon forget about it!  ?

Guasch was talking pre-match about his father being a small child when they had to flee the Francoist forces in Catalonia and become refugees in France, so I can't see him wanting to go there.

Why so angry?

I’m just saying a ground less than a third full come across poorly on the TV, despite the best efforts of those who attended.
