Club Doncaster staff will join CEO Sleepout which challenges bosses from businesses across Doncaster to swap their warm beds for a night sleeping out to raise money and make a stand against homelessness.

Dons chief executive Carl Hall, Doncaster Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin, Club Doncaster Foundation chief executive Jim Lord, and group head of communications and marketing Shaun Lockwood will be joining dozens of business leaders and executives braving cold temperatures on the night of May 20 to sleep rough and raise thousands of pounds to support charities fighting homelessness and poverty across Doncaster.

This is the first CEO Sleepout to take place in Doncaster and will be taking place at the Keepmoat Stadium. Funds will be distributed between the Real Help Doncaster – an alternative giving campaign jointly spearheaded by the Doncaster Council and Changing Lives – the Club Doncaster Foundation, and CEO Sleepout charity.

The CEO Sleepouts began six years ago and is the brainchild of Teesside businessman and philanthropist Andy Preston. The events have generated a staggering £2 million to date, supporting charities and causes that work hard to tackle poverty and homelessness in cities across the UK.

Dons chief executive Carl Hall said: “I’m really pleased to be part of the CEO Sleepout. It’s great to be joining the CEOs from across Club Doncaster to represent the Dons at this important event. I’m sure the business community of Doncaster will get behind the initiative and help raise money for the charities associated to the event.”

CEO Sleepout’s chief executive Bianca Robinson said: “We are very grateful for the many busy individuals who give up their time to take part in our fundraising events across the country and want to challenge business people across Doncaster to show compassionate leadership on these issues and get involved.

“Sleeping out for one night doesn’t come close to the reality of being homeless and hungry and we acknowledge that. But our participants are raising funds, awareness and giving up their warm bed to help others - and that’s a great thing! We’re inviting CEOs, senior level staff and their teams to take part in what is sure to be a memorable and rewarding night.”
