Broncos fight hard against the Wire

Recommended Posts

London Broncos arrived at the Halliwell Jones Stadium knowing that this would probably be their toughest game to date facing an in form Warrington side on their own turf.
Broncos chose to receive from the off and started well forcing the hosts deep in their half. The Broncos stood up to a solid Warrington side and within a 5 minute spell were given four penalties on the trot. The visitors failed to capitalize on the chances handed to them and at this level you have to make teams pay as Warrington showed as on 17 minutes Tom Lineham had dived over in the corner and opened the scoring. The Broncos again forced the hosts back with some good defence and but for the Warrington defence holding firm as Mason went close. The Wire came back again and a looping pass from Austin found Charnley who was in in the other corner. Ratchford failed to convert and it was 8 – 0.
The Broncos seemed to tire under the constant pressure from the home side and on 35 minutes Blake Austin added another Try as he dived over and on 39 minutes the Broncos were breached again by Jason Clarke. Ratchford converted both tries and on the hooter the hosts led 20 – 0.
The second half started in very much the same way with Broncos holding their own and matching the high flying Wolves.
The Broncos finally got onto the score sheet on 51 minutes as Nathan Mason went over to score his first for London. The Warrington Wolves were not to be denied and they kept on coming at the line and Tries from Ratchford, Atkins, a second for Austin and two, completing his hat-trick, from Lineham made the score line look worse than it was. A crash try from Matty Gee was deserved on 64 minutes but the damage had already been done.
Danny Ward said, ” I am really pleased with the performance tonight. Credit deserves to be given to James Meadows who had a good debut and did very well. We should have scored a few more tries but we stuck to the plan and the boys should be pleased against a very good side”

The Broncos will now look to their next game in The Challenge Cup away at Halifax and their next Super League Game on April 18th at Home to Catalans Dragons
