How many Bronco's played today, just asking as I don't know who are Skolars and who are not.

Only 1 Bronco today, Jacob Ogden.  With Broncos relatively small squad & injuries starting to take their toll the younger Broncos players that had been getting a run out with Skolars/Coventry have been called up to the Broncos1st team - 7 Broncos academy converts have made SL debuts so far.

don't forget many of the broncos academy products are from london & SE junior teams including skolars themselves and they/we feed into broncos. so its pretty symbiotic

We were awful yesterday. London were the better team in all departments. Looked strong, powerful and fit.

Good luck to them for the rest of the season. If they play like that all season the will defo be up there.

A London derby in the Championship next year potentially. That could be interesting.

If that prospect doesn't slap David Hughes around the chops then nothing will.

The area is no good for people to come and settle either. This is why city clubs and not small backward villages should be used for growth. The players have made good moves going to London and they will enjoy RL over here much better and at least get some life experience. WWR need to be given notice that this is their last season and let's concentrate on areas with expansion potential. Teams like WWR and North Wales have no town or city as an identity and this is where issues lie.

People have an issue with hat TWP bring to the game and think teams like WWR and NWC amongst others should be allowed to compete at semi pro level with no identity, no fans, no money and no hope.

Aren’t West Wales Raiders about turning up another Regan Grace or have I missed the point?

West Wales Raiders are a pointless team that have no place in semi professional rugby league in their current format. Relocate them to Cardiff, have them use the excellent facilities at the university, have them get proper investors and partners and take some talent and locate them in the area and then see if they can develop a fan base.

100 people watching a team get hammered in a backward welsh village is not good for anyone.

It’s very debatable whether a club like West Wales should be granted central funding but it was never about being a big club watched by tens of thousands.

It’s hard to see a Welsh league club ever being big. Even their yawnion clubs aren’t particularly well supported. Besides, the Welsh are allergic to league ‘cos we raided ‘backward villages’ for their best players.....

And which North West mega metropolis do you hail from, that doesn't have a Super League club and so needs to be protected from Welsh clubs. You seem to have a predilection for branding Welsh villages as you call them as backward, and so by extension their inhabitants. Go and shout this in these "backward" places and see what happens, are you prejudiced or just stupid?

PS I am not Welsh.

Last time I looked, WWR weren't playing in a "backward village", they're in Llanelli... and as for rugby heritage, it was Llanelli who famously beat the touring All-Blacks 9-3 in RU in 1972. So, we (RL) are still poaching promising Welsh youngsters down there...

And as for us being in a "backward village" in Wrexham, the biggest urban area in North Wales and only smaller than Cardiff and Swansea in our fair country, wind yer neck in pal....

North Wales - Train out of Widnes, play at an athletics track outside of Wrexham and attract crowds of 250 and have no identity. Your club is not fit for professional rugby league, lives of RL handouts and is no way developing the game. Your club needs to go to being an amateur side and gather an identity and play in the North West Counties league and allow expansion teams into the game.

Rochdale Mayfield, Oldham St Annes get bigger crowds that North Wales and would be better placed in the semi pro game over clubs like North Wales.

Get realistic and the game can move on.

...and the true colours come out...it's all about money..

and a parallel for you - after having to build a club from scratch after the SL debacle and having some success, we're currently about where Thunder were 5-6 years ago, so should they have packed it in too? And Skolars? And Coventry? People put effort into those clubs because they care. Yes there are ups and downs for most clubs below SL, should they all just pack it in? I think not.....

Your jealousy is eating you up.

Neither of the two amateur clubs you mention will ever become semi-pro.

No teams need to be protected, teams actually need to be removed.

Toronto is an expansion club with potential, West Wales is a pathetic club from a backward village. Wales is a nice place but many of the villages are backward.

Your opinions about the relative merits of one club or another are just that, your opinion.Your attitude towards parts of the UK which you are obviously unfamiliar with is nothing short of scandalous. You are ill-informed and obnoxious and your comments have no place on this website. You are guilty of a hate crime.

Wales has a slowly developing rugby league following. It has been achieved by the unstinting efforts of thousands of die-hard rugby league fans, over many generations with hardly any assistance from the North of England. Our national team just qualified for the next World Cup and our student and under 16 rep teams hold their own in competition with their English counterparts.

The Rugby Union National Team just won the Grand Slam playing to a sold out Millenium Stadium with gate takings in excess of £3,000,000 a game and are ranked 3rd in the World. The team that won the Grand Slam is selected, from only four clubs. One of them deeply embedded in the ''backward village'' you mentioned earlier.

The following for the game of Rugby Union in Wales is nothing short of fanatical and yet despite a hundred years of overt, abject prejudice against rugby league from the WRU, combined latterly with an ability to spend money on developing young players and then holding them in the game with very lucrative contracts (which incidentally, dwarf anything that Superleague can offer) those WRL die-hards are still making progress.

With every possible disadvantage heaped on them from all sides, they still foster growth here in Wales, entirely off their own backs.

The one place we might have expected some encouragement is from our Rugby League brothers in other countries. I have to say that, in the main they see us as kindred spirits.

Then every once in a while, a pr_ck like you comes along. You and your ilk, are the reason Rugby League is struggling to make headway in the world. Your stunted, prejudiced, ugly, inbred attitudes make newcomers to this great game recoil in horror, turning their backs on you and your stench and fleeing your grim NW mindset in a desperate search for some fresh air and when they find it, they vow, never to return. You deserve all you get, but this great game deserves so much better than you.

Don't presume to speak on behalf of Rugby League. You are not representative of the majority of Rugby League people and you should be sanctioned by the moderator of this website. I believe the comments you made are blatantly hateful and as such a criminal offence. You should be facing criminal proceedings.

They won't as they are amateur clubs. My point is that North Wales, West Wales and more are not fit for semi professional leagues. Criteria should be set.

I get more people at my birthday BBQ that these clubs get. Give up and let real expansion clubs come in.

Please list these real expansion clubs.

We do play in the North West Men's League, at least our A team does, which is mainly made up of local Welsh players. (I believe the North West Counties league folded in the 2014/15 season, please correct me if I'm wrong). We also have two wheelchair teams as well as junior teams, and our under 13s are proving to be particularly successful.  https://northwalescrusaders.com/match-report/report-woolston-rovers-u13s-14-54-north-wales-crusaders-u13s/

We have had the lowest central funding of any club in League 1 for the last three years, due to the actions of our previous CEO, who ran up huge debts, including a loan from the RFL which the club has been held accountable for. This should now be just about behind us and we can concentrate on reviving the club, which was attracting four figure crowds just six years ago.

The players who train in Widnes are incredibly loyal, some of them have been with us since the start, despite two pay cuts. They love the club and are very proud to be bringing the sport they love to a new area, and inspiring the local players who hope to take their place one day. This club desperately needs a home of it's own if it is to thrive in the future, no doubt about that, but for now we have to make do with what we have got. And by the way, the ground is IN Wrexham, just 10 minutes walk from the town centre.

You are entitled to your opinion of course, but I clicked on this thread  to read about London Skolars recent good form, not to have my club, country and countless dedicated volunteers and players insulted.

Strange that you are advocating Rochdale Hornets merge with amateur club Mayfield - why not get some life experience and become big city Manchester;though I suspect Salford is more than a decent life experience.

You will have to work very hard to find any dissenting voice in North Wales or West Wales against Toronto.

Your posts on the Rochdale forum are worth a read.

You seem to have enough to keep your busy without poking your nose into areas you ain't wanted.

London Skolars have many years advantage in that they were formed in the 1990's.

To answer your question:

Newcastle are spending £400k this year on a squad to improve, have an academy structure and are developing the game working with the union side playing to of great facilities and from a city with an identity. If they were called North East Crusaders with no structure or future then they would be pointless but you cannot compare with them.

Coventry - Remove and replace

Skolars - Play out of London, great junior set up, developing players and working with the bigger London club for now until the new funding come in. Completely different to playing out of North wales but training in Widnes and having no structure or set up. Reasonable comparison but not on the same level.

People do work hard I have no =thing but resect for people who work are but give it up, it is pointless. Go to Wrexham and become Wrexham and create an identity. Truth hurts but what you are doing doesn't work and will never work.

What will you do when the hand outs stop - anyone who knows they won survive needs to pack in now and stop wasting money from the RFL.

a few things...

1 this is a thread about London.. there are plenty of anti expansion threads that you can berate people for trying their best to expand the game.

2. you wanted City Clubs but you want Coventry to be removed. A club growing from the base and using the money they get to develop junior clubs etc and build in the right way...everything you seem to want.

3. take the hand outs away from every club in league 1 or even the champ and 80% will go #### up... and there arent people queueing up to plough their money into UK based teams.

4. big cities are no guarantee.. I'm from Sheffield and am pretty well aware of this fact!

other than that your doing well!

Good post..

When the handouts stop and clubs go, it shows they have nothing to offer, then expansion can really begin and money will come into the game.

Coventry I may accept but need to see them doing much more.

Sheffield are a club that have stood still for to long and not developed. I hope that this season sees that change. Otherwise it would be time to go. Its not just having a city name, its creating that identity and building the club using models like TWP etc.

But when we lose 80% of the clubs there will be nothing to invest in and no leagues for any expansion clubs to join..

I am a massive expansionist but your idea of wipe everyone out and start again is just ridiculous. Big cities are chock full of sport and clubs that already have people's attention. The fact you think Coventry should be "doing much more" shows you have little or no idea (probably the latter) of what is happening in expansion areas and how unbelievably hard it is to get anything moving.

Sheffield have not "stood still" if you havent noticed they have had to be moving around different towns and grounds just to play because the city really couldnt give a monkeys about them as it is a football city. If you're not into football there are good level (not great but good) rugby union teams around the place to go and watch, Ice Hockey, Basketball and god only knows what else as well as the Peak District to go and spend your time with the kids, go climbing, ride your bike and so on so forth... It is a big city, it is diverse with people's interests like most big cities and it has well developed and embedded sports.. you could take the hand outs given to every team under Super League and invest the whole lot into 1 city and it wouldnt make a dent.. it is about slow growth that embeds you.

Toronto is making great strides yes and it is brilliant and the model is fab but it wont necessarily work here.. I am sure people are watching and will look to adapt it but to bin off 80% of the clubs would be daft in the extreme, if over time they are replaced then that is fine and fair but just to tell them all to pack in and go away would be suicide.

Now lets celebrate London FFS! I was there in the 2000s and played against Skolars and frankly just still existing from those days is a win for any club in London so fair play to them its been a long hard slog but lets hope they are turning that corner!
