The article referred to was in League Weekly about 2 or so weeks back and is partly based on info found on the Companies House register.

There's a pdf document under the filing history which lists some of the names, including the Butlin brothers who apparently used to be MMA fighters.

Those Butlin brothers were on a programme by Danny dyer a few years ago. Was called Britain’s most dangerous men I think.. they seemed a right pair of nutcases.

I struggle to see where they would have the money to back the NY bid. They also sound like a couple of unsavoury characters who the game would be better off distancing itself from.

Wouldn’t like to be the one who has to phone him after the decision has been made. I’d have my concrete boots ready at the door.

I was trying, pitifully, to make a joke around Butlins and camp.

Rumour has it that not only was Billy Butlin a shrewd business man, he was also a hard man, and someone you would not want to cross.

It's now starting to be pretty clear as to why the NY bids backers weren't revealed.

Sounds like a pretty sketchy setup based on what we see about the Butlins.

You'd think in a place like NY with more then 20 million people in the area, RL could do quite a bit better than guys like this.

No it can't do quite a bit better than guys like this, not the way things are set up now.  RL in the UK has been exposed by the events of the past year and a half as a small time, small-minded sport, so it could only do quite a bit better than guys like this with a whole new organization totally separate from SL and the RFL and able to give the sport a big time, fully professional approach.

We had A couple of guys who were way worse than those English brothers...their names were Wayne and Shuster and you had better not mess with them!

Strictly as quoted, these people are only 'part' of the group behind this bid.

So who else are the other bright sparks involved in all this?

I suppose there is nothing to stop anybody and his dog from claiming they propose a bid for a RL franchise.
