Speediest speedster in RL

I know it’s slight off topic but I’ve never seen a player who turned the fullback inside out as much as offiah.

There are a few speedsters at the top level but nowadays (god that makes me sound old) clubs tend to look for fairly fast but strong wingers and players who are “safe” not out and out speedsters.

Yes, you'd never see Martin come in to cart the ball up and give the forwards a breather. That wasn't his job. the only times he came infield was to take a short ball that put him into space. Once that happened it was 99% certainly a try, unless it was in New Zealand. ?

Of the current players (1 from each SL team I'd guess to be the quickest)

Saints (Grace)

Wire (Charnley)

Cas (Eden)

Hull (Shaul)

Wakefield (Caton Brown or Johnstone)

Catalan (Broughton or Tierney)

Wigan (Marshall)

Hull KR (Shaw)

Salford (Evalds)

Huddersfield (McIntosh?)

Leeds (Handley)

London (Dixon)

My money would be in Dixon, with a cover bet on whoever Wakey sent.

Don't think Eden looked that quick on Thursday but don't know if he's carrying an injury....is Handley really quick? Looks too big to be quick....would have thought Briscoe?

I remember being chuffed with Caro's win.....would be great to do a British all football codes one....I'd still back Dicko against most soccer players

I think Austin is the quickest at Warrington.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

From that list - Grace, Charnley, Marshall, Johnstone, Caton-Brown and Dixon; all rapid.

Eden too, although he would drop the ball somewhere around the halfway line.

Over 40m Morgan Escare would take some beating. He's very quick.

100m is a long way for a rugby player so it's a different category to pure acceleration over a short distance.

Over 100m, I would think Dixon just ahead of Grace then Mason Caton Brown.

During the '88 Lions tour the Aussies arranged a sprint between Offiah and I think it was Lee Oderyun, like everything in Australia there was a book run on it. Offiah ran at 3/4 pace to make it look genuine but Oderyun won to forever be known as the fastest man in RL for what was left of his short career, whilst the Lions squad and those of us in the know counted our winnings?

I'd have Eden as the quickest at Cas (excluding the young players anyway, Lewis Carr looks quick).

Was a best guess about Leeds.  Could well be Briscoe or even young Newman.

That new young Melbourne Storm FB looked very speedy with his try in their last match. Compared to a winger, I don't know, but he was motoring.
