Sometimes (especially for Belfast) they play the same fixture twice in two days. The English teams going to Scotland often play the three Scottish clubs on three consecutive days. They have a (two-legged) cup and play-offs too, so it's not uncommon to play the same team 10 times in a season.

So if you reckon the Sheffield Tigers speedway ave 800+, the Stock Cars also at Owlerton get more than that and of course the Greyhound's run there then the Eagles are way down Sheffields sporting pecking order, and likely to remain so. If in 35 years including a Challenge cup win you can't attract more than 500 your very unlikely to in the future or is it like the Speedway where the support base is literally dying away.

When Sheffield Eagles were in the top flight they attracted far more than 500 and for a number of years attracted crowds pretty similar to the likes of Warrington and Castleford.

How can they play consecutive days? Thought it was a bit of a bashy sport?

In a 60 minute game, the average player will play 20 odd minute. They have ‘lines’, from best to worst, that take turns on the ice. It is unique among sports in that the best players in the game will play less than half of each game.

Total UK so union will include Scotland, Wales and Ireland. It would be interesting to see England only.

Horse racing and greyhounds are on 364 days a year and horse racing have been adding in live music to boost attendances.

Ice hockey is the surprising one for me. To be ahead of netball as well!

How many players on team and in the interchange....is it unlimited how many changes?

Squad of 22, 20 outfield and 2 net-minders. 1 Net-minder and 5 skaters on ice at a time, changes constant with player's other than net-minder tending to be on ice not much more than a minute at a time. Net-minders will play the full 60 mins unless they're having a mare. Game in play for 60 mins as clock stops with every stoppage. Top defencemen will play up to 30mins a game, forwards more like 20. Playing games on back to back days considered normal.

For all those who constantly tell us we get what we deserve

that would mean our coverage should be more or less equal to cricket.

That figure is not for a simple backwater sport to be given a few column inches or a late night show relegated to the North.
