Catalans interest in Fages

Media that SMc has been speaking to Fages who’s off contract this year.  Best place for him imo.

Also that Escare (whatever happened to him) is interested as well as Seb Teaia.

Do you mean Zeb Taia? Would be a bit odd for him to move as he's signed a one year contract extension with Saints this afternoon...

After last night's terrible so called defence of the Cup, he should run for the hills.

Yes indeed he did mate.  Must’ve been in between media news.  Good bloke and player.

Yeah I'd agree. Only downside is he's prone to a couple of unforced errors or penalties pretty much every game. Generally makes up for it with the rest of his game though.

As for Fages, he's having a good season with a solid run in the team in the same position. Not sure if he'd be looking to move back to France but it's quite different to the NRL move which was being mooted not so long ago. Cas was rumoured as a done deal too but some Cas fans also thought they'd signed Walmsley from us a couple of years back too.

Would be interesting to see the approach Saints take if he does go. Richardson to get another chance with Welsby waiting in the wings? Or maybe bring in a more experienced organiser?

I've heard that he's signed a new contract at Saints now, after stalling for quite a while! Maybe he was waiting for an NRL offer that didn't materialise!

Edit: Holbrook confirmed that we offered him a contract months ago and all that has been said since is that it remains "on the table". We haven't held back on offering him a deal.

I thought there was bad blood between Theo's family (father) and Guasch, which was why he went to Salford rather than Catalans. Seems like an unlikely move for Theo, but money talks.

Would be good if he went to the Dragons for all sorts of reasons

Could just be a bargaining chip of course.

It really does seem to be the case Lam Dosent rate Escare as he's not getting a look in despite his game breaking talent. Wigan at times could do with a change of pace and the option of putting the ball behind the line. He offers that well And surely merits a bench spot some weeks at least.

With Escare at the Dragons unless he plays half back a position he's not really suited to, I don't see him at FB with Gigot, Tomkins and Mead about, unless Mead is off and then there is a need for more depth?

Fages seems to be doing very well at Saints so wouldn't make sense to Leave unless an NRL offer materialises.

Zeb is a very good SL player and a team can not have enough good second row talent so would not be a bad signing at all. Only issue is what would it mean for some of the French lads coming through with getting a game?

This is just typical agents putting there players out there to try n get them a better deal, fages will stay at sts n get a bigger contract after interest from Catalan n Cas.

Signed a contract extension to end of 2021

After magic where all the  Cas fans claims he’d signed for them, yet another nosey Parker rumour turns out to be utter garbage.

Hopefully he starts a rumour that Holbrook and Thommo are off and they sign new contracts too ?

Read that Escare approached Catalans about a return. Don't blame him.

Good player who can break.

Yes, Wane didn't seem to favour him, too. But he injects pace,  has a darting run, lively etc. Can't see why he's not a regular at the DW.

I think Wane used him well, as a impact player off the bench who would then mean Tomkins would go to HB, with Escare at FB. He would also get used on the wing if injuries occured.

Wane is too good a coach to be out of SL imo. Wigan miss him.

Escare too good a player to not be a first 17 regular in SL. London for one could do with him.

Thompson isn’t OOC this year, would still be good to get his extension signed early though.

Holbrook should be the clubs main priority now for a nw contract.

Agreed.

Escare can also play half back.

Hope he stays as hopefully Lam will soon be history.

I wouldn't anticipate that Saints will be signing too many players for 2020, with a lot of key players signing new and probably improved contracts.

I don't have a great problem with that. The squad is strong as it is and the club deserve praise for being able to retain players like Walmsley, Roby, Lomax, Makinson and Fages at times when other clubs are losing key players.
