Ideal time would be at old Trafford prior to super league final IMO!

Well if Toronto and another Championship team are  playing then the Super League final would have to be played first  because you would want to save the better teams for the last game...just makes sense.  Both games should probably be at Lamport....supporting expansion and all.

I think this talk of Old Trafford should confirm why the Championship final should be at a neutral venue it would be exactly the same as they do for the SL final at a neutral venue.

So to keep in line and in time honoured tradition play the final at a neutral venue wherever that may be - in the UK - after all it is the showcase event for the division, playing it in the UK would allow supporters of other clubs the opportunity to attend, playing in Toronto would somewhat reduce that opportunity.

Toulouse are wobbling and catchable so the RFL's nightmare scenario of an all-foreign final might be avoided. Assuming that Toronto will get there, they won't fetch many fans to an away game.

I can't see how a game on a pitch marked out for multisports in Toronto would give the RFL any kudos or much money.

Seriously, Odsal would be a good choice for the final. RFL-owned; central location; decent corporate hospitality; 5000 seats; good playing surface, big carpark and right next to the motorway turnoff.

So a pitch with other sport markings is worse look for the game than a 3/4 empty decrepit cesspit of a ground in Bradford ????

I wonder if there would be so much concern  if Fev or Leigh were top of the league.

Ha ha, of course, with this board there would be a problem wherever you hold it. These idiots would argue with themselves in a paper bag, and then with the paper bag. God alone knows what would be the case if we had Internet in 1895, the Northern Union would never happen because of infighting on the 'net

I don't think it would be a good choice at all. I don't think I would be on my own in that respect either.

Until they spend about £20m bringing it into the 21st century, Odsal will remain a terrible choice.

Colourful lines on a pitch > crumbling terraces.

I think Headingley would be the ideal location, followed by Doncaster, Leigh, Warrington.

With respect, Odsal is an awful choice.  It's falling to bits, looks terrible on TV and is not a pleasant place for the fans.

Big car park, great they can park the plane there.

Gav. I agree you did not say Bradford owned the ground,so who do you think should spend the £20 million to upgrade the ground or would you along with many others see Bradford go out of business because I can guarantee the Council will not pay the money out.So I would guess it would be up to the R.F.L. as they own the lease and should maintain the ground. If you rent a house and maintenance needs doing surely it is up to the Landlord to pay for the maintenance not you.

For Bradford, Odsal currently serves its purpose absolutely fine mate.

My point was it shouldn't be hosting any kind of rep games or finals until it has been brought up to date by whoever is responsible for bringing it up to date.

This year I'm happy for the Grand Final to go to Toronto (assuming they win the first semi). It gives 8 thousand or so brand new rugby league fans another big game to get excited about.

Down the line I'd like to see the lower league finals day come back though, ideally at Headingley.

OK, can we NOT make it another threat about Odsal please.... ** yawn **

I think it's been stated already that it will be at the ground of the highest placed team, so the discussion is moot.

But for a future year, I'd be in favour of a RFL finals day, with the Championship, League 1 and maybe something like the Women's Final or NCL final. But they need to get it announced early, promote it properly and make it a real occasion - something that the RFL seem particularly poor at doing.

The venue matters less than having faith the RFL won't half-ass it. Anyone of Headingley, HJ or Keepmoat would be fine - but first we need a governing body who know how to put on an event.

Can someone please post proof of the numerous claims about the location? The RFL link only shows the format; it does not overtly indicate who hosts the final game.

A couple of posters said it was in the League Express. If so please post a screenshot of the announcement.

I have also asked on other sites and I have yet to see any verifiable proof.
