His entertainment value has been on the wane recently. However, he's still way ahead of yours truly.

I'm sorry you see yourself in such low esteem, but it is understandable.

On a more interesting note, who uses the word "outwith" in their daily speech? Is it a Scots thing?

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

It seems so. I've never heard it before.

Come the revolution, it'll be used to identify lawyers and similar professions with no value to our socialist republic.

I must be one of the few who watch it.

They show regular live Scottish Championship football on Friday nights during the season. There are other shows also.

The coverage is very good and at half time there is a historical football related feature.

It's interesting that the article suggests the channel was produced to placate the SNP as the highland sides are featured a lot.

Yes you are correct, next season there is only ICT in the championship.☺

Ross County, they are based in Dingwall, won the league this year and have been promoted so won't be featured. They were on tv a lot last year.

They were my favourite team in the league so I will have to choose another.

Elgin are a third highland side. They are in division 3 based in Moray.

Yes - one of those words that seems to be in every day use by most Scots, and hardly anyone else ever uses.

Well,  some of its gone here.

Enough for 19000 tv licences for ten years. Add to that over paid, over manned, over pensioned management etc, ....

Go on. Do your decades old quote in italics. Call it Guardian TV. Play that old classic about how it’s biased to remainers. Or that hysterical line about how they never admit they’re wrong.

Or just accept that the BBC is incredible value for the money and just because there are bits you don’t like doesn’t make it some socialist evil to be destroyed.

Yes, it is a common part of everyday speech. There are a fair few words like that in Scots English that you wouldn't hear elsewhere. I was once informed by St Johnstone FC that I could "uplift my briefs" for a game I was attending up until noon of the day of the match.

On the disappointing viewing figures, they reflect the very low esteem in which the BBC is held in Scotland, especially amongst those the channel was aimed at ie those who want to watch content about Scotland, produced in Scotland, and/or from a Scottish point of view. Even those who have given it a chance say it has failed.
