I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly. It has a lot of history as I believed it served in WW2 and also in Nam and I had the pleasure of having a look round the cockpit about 10 years ago. Saints fans on the other hand responded in their usual, "1955" fashion not bothering to see the big picture. Simple, consistent, funny marketing, targeting the usually lower attended games, its all easily achievable for any club. As for opposition fans, some wouldn't understand marketing if it smacked them in the face with this lovely Teflon non stick frying pan (£19.99 in all good supermarkets!). Its promotion, its a laugh, it gets people talking about the game! I'm getting more and more fed up with the "I must be outraged at everything" brigade who don't ever seem to see beyond the end of their nose. Hopefully more clubs can follow Warringtons lead!
