Swinton v Batley

Can't understand playing tommo on wing. Hes utility but wing is a bit specialist. Retties last year rarely backs himself with ball in hand even downhill (lost confidence after shoulder pop?)

Jc is a confidence player and I'd have him in even 70% fit

'Shaw cross juniors, Birkenshaw, Mirfield, Heckmondwike Panthers, Stainland Stags and then the Heavy woolen donkeys... WARDY, STOZZA, GT, KARL OR KEAR MUST OF DROPPED A DIGIT FROM MY MOBILE NUMBER! :clapping:

And is Bienek still with us?

Came off against Widnes with head knock , couldn’t play against York and Toronto due to head protocol and I presume as faile head test

Poor old Keenan...Gets thrown in wherever we're short. Always performs well but can't help feel he's suffering from Batley syndrome..that of pressurising players into round holes when they're really square pegs. Goes back donkeys years, Johnny Parker came as a half back, pushed to fullback, Gary Thornton, junior international half pushed out on the wing etc etc. New Tommo is built for the 2nd row so needs to be a sub, don't think he's got the pace of a Walker, Rettie or Campbell. Galbraith would always be in my team, can see that young Jack has been given his head but is there a purpose beyond his loan period? As already mention JC is full of confidence and when he and Rettie play together the team has 4 2nd rowers on as they do the work driving it in as well their wing work. Yes, I know there's an end to everybody's road and most players will hold their hands up when they feel they've reached it at a certain level, but as they say, nothing beats a good old un like a good young un, but you have to have the good young in a and in the right place. You can't turn a donkey ( no offence to any player meant) into a jaguar by telling it enough times that it is one!! With the league positions 9th to 11th being so tight we need the experience.  Hope I'm wrong tomorrow, but Swinton on their soil will require no excuses, no mucking about, no poor discipline or else we'll be swapping places.

Well, mental attitude was an omission from the above....so, we're fighting the Rams for 11th and 12th. This whole situation has to change for 2020, but who's going to want to come to a Championship 12th position team?

Dewsbury have a game in hand over Batley too... before coming to face us something needs to change before it’s all over! Either with a new signing or off the field it’s not good enough anymore at batley rlfc it’s gone far behind after  the hard work Karl Harrison, John Kear put in over the years we’ve gone from third to 11th in a matter of seasons

Looks like Swinton now might be safe and the forthcoming derby match could be crucial to both of us. You  Batley supporters now know what it’s like to be worried.

We Dewsbury followers are fed up with building a team to stave off relegation, but it looks like you have one of your own.

Come the 11th August will either of us have improved?

Legs, Dews, Legs.

Realistically we only look like picking up another 2 points until end of season.

not enough i dont think.

changes are irrelevant now. too late.

When  you look at the squad and take into account that injuries haven't taken that heavy a toll this year then we have underachieved.  Should we scrape through the problem is that our budget will be smaller relative to those teams above us and it may be difficult to put together as good a squad for next season, never mind improving it.  I'm not sure what the answer is for what's left of the season but I don't think that the fault lies in the quality of the players, albeit that some of the young lads do need guidance to get the best out of them.

You just couldn't write today, I'm absolutely gutted, but no lack of effort from the lads.

Maybe a lack of composure cost us the result and it is hard to argue against it?

However, I also think tiredness played its part, due to the lack of available substitutions, with 3 men unable to continue in the final quarter in sweltering conditions.

I am a Swinton Lions fan and even if you only picked up another two points this season I cannot see Batley going down in all honesty. We are not yet confirmed safe though today was a huge step towards safety all the same.I think realistically it is between Dewsbury and Barrow as to who will join Rochdale Hornets though I think if we beat Barrow in a few weeks it would probably as good as send them down. And had Dewsbury lost today which at one stage I think they were in danger then they would be the ones looking nervously over their shoulder.

I still think you will have your annual game v Dewsbury next year in the Summer Bash.

If you don’t though,we will probably be your opponents.

When 10 pts. up late in the second half we turned down the chance of 2 easy points. Kicking the goal meant we would have taken a point. Stupid descition. We just do not have the point scoring in this years team to win matches. Born out by the stats we are the second lowest point scoring team in the championship Also at the risk of opening a new can of worms I think we are lacking in the fitness dept. 2 to 3 tries for the current bulldogs per match seems the norm. Big improvement needed or our long standing stay in the championship will be over. Well done and good luck Swinton you outplayed us today.

I'm not sure where we are going to get those 2 points from...it could be a big fat zero....
