Entire team suspended.

Its hard to know where the blame for this all lies and how much of it is the fault of the heritage players based in Australia and how much is the LRLF. The LRLF concentrating on developing the game domestically and playing internationals with these domestic players wouldn't be the worst outcome.

I dont Think I have the energy to, once again,  try to understand the all story behind this… I asked on facebook to some players from the team which left federation, but did not get any precise info..

if somebody could briefly sumarize what happened from the beginning…

The IRLF needs to step in sharpish and sort this, but will they?

There have been games at College and student level so it's a bit false to say there are no games. I'd like to hear more from Lebanon RL on the situation rather than taking the word of Robbie Farrah and a bunch of heritage players through the Australian press, and based thousands of miles away, ad verbatim.

I don't think you would need to look much further than Farrar.

I've always assumed the Lebanon side is actually a sort of Origin side of heritage players anyway?

It would make sense that the players continue but call themselves Lebanon Origin.

Then leave the actual Lebanese to develop homegrown talent?

You're forgetting that Lebanon is an automatic qualifier for the next World Cup for making the quarter-finals last time, they'll need their heritage players to be remotely competitive.

Chris Saab and Michael Hedwan to blame.

Both jeopardising domestic activity for their personal desire for power.

Chris Saab is buddies with Farah. Now Saab has retired Farah is infiltrating the team.

Meanwhile good fellas in Lebanon are stepping aside.

Domestically, Wael Haab not happy about being overlooked for selection so is causing trouble - including refusing to play, threatening breakaway competition, wanting the board to stand down etc.

Always a few ruining it for all.

Indeed and I was going to say that too. Has a year ever gone by where there hasn't been some big issue involving Farrah. He is one big reason that I'm very sceptical of the Australian press version of events.

I don't know what the situation is these days, but they used to have the homegrown Liban Espoirs playing matches against other emerging nations, while the Cedars was the full-strength heritage-based side for the RWC.

There's nothing to suspend them from. No games are currently being played in the LRL domestic league and they've just been punted from the PI invitational series in favour of the Cook Islands.

Why is Lebanon even included in Southern Hemisphere competitions?

The last time I looked at a Map, Lebanon was clearly in the Northern side of the equator.

They must have got sick of waiting behind France, Wales, Ireland and Scotland to get attention and decided they were in the Pacific.

Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.

More likely it's just due to the Aussies not knowing where Lebanon is. ?

I obviously don't know the details of this case and perhaps LRLF are at fault, but there is a serious problem when a national team containing many powerful, high profile Superleague and/or NRL players is being run by an administration based on a small number of volunteers in a country with few RL resources. Up until the World Cup Lebanon RL were one of the real success stories with arguably the most active domestic set up in the RLEF outside England and France. It's difficult to believe that overnight they've become incompetent.

The same thing seems to have happened in Ireland when Richard Egan announced his new domestic policy quota, the heritage players lead by Liam Finn kicked off, and without any annoucment Egan is out, a new board in place and the domestic policy has disappeared without a mention.

Again I don't know the details in either case but it does to me that with both Ireland and Lebanon there is a conflict between the wishes of the domestic based administration and the heritage based national team set up, and in both cases the power and resources are all on the latter's side.

The national teams of Italy and Lebanon are largely based on Australian players so of course they have to play in the Southern Hemisphere.

It's one of the oddities we'll just have to accept if we want a competitive international scene based on heritage players.

Fair enough - does the Cedars need to be run via Lebanon?

Surely the administrative side could be based in Aus?

His antics involving McGilvaray showed his true colours.

If the squad are all based in Australia and the administration are all based in Australia, in what way is it a Lebanese National Team?

Just how would they administer domestic development in Lebanon from the other side of the world???
