Tricolores U19s Downunder

Recommended Posts

Good to see. Four matches in New Zealand from 27 September. 24 players to travel from below group.of thirty-five. Great opportunity for lads like Brochon, Cozza, Carré and Salabio who have played regularly for Baby Dracs in Elite 1 this past season. Also Lima from TO who has played in the Championship as well Lacans and Gouzy from FCL. Add on back rower  Goffin from Villeneuve/Lot who has also stood out in Elite 1.

And fabre from albi who has played all season in the albi first team as a 17 year old, I've heard he's going to leeds for a season in the academy now he's passed his exams, not sure if morgue, jussaume and le cam are too old or why they've not been picked,

The team seems to have been picked from the juniors that play first grade and the ones from the pole/creps rugby colleges

Tours like this can only be good for the French game and the development of young French players.

Couldn't agree more or ditto!

The reason they can go to new Zealand is that the debt the French fédération was in has been paid off and for the first time in a long long time the fédération actually has a little money,

looks like the games according to this article will be against the South Island U19's, Samoa U19's, Auckland Under 20 side and the NZ residents U19's. As France are the current European U19 Champions it will be interesting to see how they go in NZ. Honestly cant remember when the last representative sides below test level toured New Zealand. Good that the French Rugby League have made a profit and are investing money in to youth Representative tours.

This is the strongest U19 team I've ever seen us put out.

4 or 5 lads could be part of France senior squad. Salabio, Lacans, Fabre and Goffin are Elite 1 stand outs. François Dorce-Hantz apparead in Elite 1 for Avignon a couple times this year while Laguarre has been excellent in Elite 2 (9 tries in 14 games) at just 17 years old, Toulouse made no mistake and signed him!

The under 17s are going to England this month, I've just read the women are going to turkey and italy, the France À are going to Australia for the nines then the rest of the squad are flying over for a couple of games in Australia,

So a A team is participating in the 9's and not a full strength side, and what other matches are they planning?

Small gains moving in the right direction. Great news for French RL - long may it continue.

Is it the u17s? The RFL have it down as the French u16s playing England Youth.

Both matches are live on Our League app -

Game 1 is Wednesday 17th July @ 7pm

Game 2 is Saturday 20th July @ 2pm

Why is just the French A for the Nines? What are the rest doing?
