WHATS GOING ON AT ODSAL

Chalmers seems open and transparent there. Can't blame him for the lack of support from the RFL and City of Bradford regarding the state of Odsal.

I suppose the problem is that the story was just like an after dinner speech. There was no detail of what he was asking of the RFL and Council. His point ultimately is he is a great negotiator, by leaning over a table, but the RFL and Council wont give him what he wants this time.

His request may be totally unreasonable.

Odsal might be a famous Ground, but its a costly ground that is not fit for modern day use. Thrum Hall, The Boulevard, Central Park, Knowseley Road etc were famous grounds, but the Clubs needed a cheaper option and play in Grounds that were modern. This is the same with Bradford and Odsal. Sadly this was never done.

After the fire at Valley Parade (now, more than ever, a hopeless site for a stadium), a new stadium should have been built, either at Odsal or elsewhere in the city, with Bradford Council playing a lead role, for the football and rugby league clubs to share. It happened in Hull and Wigan.

Without the RFL taking over the Odsal lease and forwarding TV money in advance to the Bulls they would exist today.

Lets not forget about the strong rumours that the RFL paid the Bulls players last month despite all the help the Bulls have had from the RFL, they appear less than penniless.

The first part, hindsight would say that spin on events was wrong. The second part is rumour. Now who has a vested interest in damaging the Bulls by spreading rumour again?

Well what a great guy - solves every negotiation with a word in someone's ear; gets enticed to form a new club with, allegedly, a host of strings attached and doesn't bother with a business plan, seemingly; just doing everything that he can for the good people of Bradford, despite being hindered at every turn; never once considering any advantage or benefit for himself.

If NZ ever needs a new Premier he looks like the man of the moment. Does he do golf courses?

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

So if Odsal is a decaying Stadium, where does that leave Wheldon Road or Belle Vue?

A desparate example of Whataboutery.

Racism at Post Office Road and Belle Vue towards Bulls fans, Wheldon Rd for me, fans always welcoming compared to the other 2.

Yep, they have never received any fines for hate chanting ? Pretty much every club seems to have an unruly element. It is how it is managed that is the key.

in a shared ground normally its only the team that's actually playing who's fans turn up so not really a problem is it.

I'm not going to comment on my experiences at Wheldon road other than to say I have found post office road more pleasant .

At a recent Fans Forum, the Halifax Directors confirmed that they were owed money from the Bulls and had to go to the RFL to get it. The money Halifax received from the monthly payment that Bradford and every club receives from the RFL. This would indicate that Bradford do indeed have no money and probably why the RFL wont allow them to sign any more players until they can prove that the finances are better.

Not at all. Certain areas are rife for up grading but to say it's past it's sell by date and is completely unsatisfactory to the fans is a joke, Take a walk around currant ground apart from 3/4 of SL how many would pass a strict test? It's tactics I tell thee!

Like poor jokes? Thejoketeller@mullymessiah

Simple solution - move the club to New York !

'New York Bulls' has a certain ring to it .

Well, now there are two clubs for Bradford so good they did it twice, NY would seem ideal!

The Bulls players were paid today so clearly have some funds.

That of course is one scenario. The other scenario is that Bulls asked the Rfl to pay Halifax through central funding, as is common. But they asked the Rfl too late for them to change the payments that month, so the Rfl rolled it over to the next month. Halifax, noticed this and queried it. The Rfl gave Halifax the perception that the Bulls were struggling and the Rfl were all over it. Halifax then packaged that perception up as gospel (because why would they expect the Rfl to be economical with the truth lol) and handed it on.

In summary, Bulls followed the letter of the guidelines, but not the spirit. The Rfl, well I don’t know if they’re trying to punish Chalmers because he’s had the temerity to call their bluff and leave them with a white elephant, or force the Bulls into administration again, or what. He’s not on their Xmas card list anyway....

Bulls have few debts, ST money is still coming in (despite the efforts of that unprofessional statement from Rfl) and crucially no debt to HMRC who usually trigger winding up orders at the drop of a hat. There aren’t really any applicable levers for the Rfl to pull to apply pressure any more, except special measures. And that is being questioned by several championship chairmen as Chalmers has kept them in the loop re what the Rfl want & what has been provided. Any other club it would have been withdrawn last week. Anyway, time for some rugby to hopefully break out tomorrow

Few debts? They paid off most of the £675k showing in their last accounts then?

Hopefully that’s a rhetorical question rather than a daft one.

Because obviously ? the three options are yes, someone is absorbing the cost or the club is in administration. And they’re not in administration.

Be careful not to believe everything the Rfl says on this matter. The conflict of interest interferes with their objectivity
