Well quite, but nobody has called for him to be hung, and it certainly isn't 'letting slip with a couple of f-words'.

The general view is that the RFL shouldn't be hiring somebody telling the RFL CEO and a Director to eff off on camera.

That response seems reasonable and proportionate to be honest.

Are the RFL ‘hiring him’?

Well, in the midst of all the faux outrage, it’s obviously the beer talking isn’t it? It’s a guy, high on emotion, tanked up on booze, letting slip with a couple of f-words.

Your honour, I was drunk and passionate so everything I said and did is completely fine.

So what he said is going to end up with up before a magistrate?

Reality check needed here mate

Of course it's not.

But the reality check is needed for anyone believing that being drunk is in any way a valid excuse.

I think he's commentated on the OurLeague app for a Bulls game - would that count as RFL work?

I can't recollect anything recently specifically for the RFL that's not related to commentating. Other than some interviews from RFL employees for his podcast which wouldn't count.

He's a foul-mouthed oaf, always has been, and has consistently behaved oafishly - on this very forum and elsewhere. If Bradford Bulls are happy to continue employing him in whatever capacity then that is their prerogative, but the RFL should never employ him in any capacity and nor should any reputable media organisation.

I'm not sure Bulls have employed him directly. Not recently anyway. Match commentating is through Pulse radio - this year anyway. Pulse is one of the radio group just been taken over by Haymarket publishing who are deciding whether to continue commentary of rugby league, which affects several clubs with local radio stations I think.

The live games he commentated on last year, I think he was employed by the company that set up the live streaming, I forget the name.

Mick has been totally hung out to dry by someone intent on bringing on what has happened since his rant. End of the day as has been explained his fathers ashes were spread on the ground. It is disgusting the extent of what has been said about hi to be fair for a coupleof swear words.

People saying the RFL shouldn't be hiring him need to have a look into their other main commentator who has a far far worse record than Mick shouting a couple of obscenities.

As much as people cream off the RFL for all the "support" the have given the Bulls and how they are our crowning saviours, the comments by Mick have been brought on by themselves for me. Lets start with our current owner, who was "invited" by the RFL to take on the club. There was a very viable bid by David Thorne on the table to save the club and carry on all contracts for players and staff that had been signed prior to the last administration.

With player welfare in consideration they ignored that bid, let the club be liquidated to hand the keys to Chalmers. Thus leaving a host of players looking for contracts and the club a few weeks to crumple a side together. How on earth was that in the best interests of the club. Then as per the RFL rules the club should have started in league one. But to protect their precious summer bash and milk the Bradford fans as they would travel in the best numbers they decide to leave us in the championship without a squad and 12 points deducted. Things were ok until easter and once the loanees went back we had a bunch of kids fighting for their lives. Again no thought of player welfare. Does it involved Odsal itself their whole reasoning behind it?

The question needs to put to the right people why did the RFL not accept David Thrnes bid whenall was in place, and why did they specifically invite Chalmers to the club? It stinks and now he has turned his back on the lease they are trying to play hard ball back.

Big Nige is no longer at the RFL to explain why he didn't want to sell the Odsal head lease to Thorne, which then forced Thorne to walk away, stating that he has never tried to deal with such a bunch of incompetents in his life & he thought the RFU were bad....

The RFL, worse at business and running their sport than the RFU. Not a great tag line really.

Exactly. I wouldn't ahve been surprised after moving Wasps to Coventry if he wouldn't have tried bringing them to Odsal too

Which one? Not Dave Parkinson, who seems to do a lot of the non-Championship stuff and does a very good job.

Strange video that Gledhill one. Was there some form of sit in protest (attended by “about 200” haha) at Odsal then?

I don’t get the venom and vitriol aimed at the RFL either? Is he angry they’ve sanctioned the Dewsbury move? Angry they’re not throwing money at Odsal?

Someone grabs the camera. I’d like to see that footage.

That’s not done his employment hopes much good but I can’t imagine there was a long queue wanting him anyway.

All irrelevant. When you're in the position that Mick is in, you don't film yourself saying those things. It's as simple as that.

If he was just a fan it would barely have raised an eyebrow, but he's not. He's an accredited RFL journalist/broadcaster.

Yet the BBC have employed an individual done for drink/driving,and retained the services of an individual who made a sexist remark following the horrendous death of the owner of Leicester City FC - heard by far more than have seen/heard Mick's stupidity.

Back on topic.

What about this for a possible scenario?

1. Andrew Chalmers takes the Bulls to Dewsbury though it would be easier for fans to get to Horsfall, Halifax or Keighley.

2. The Council cuts a deal with the RFL over the surrender of the lease of Odsal ... this creates a much larger area for sale to a commercial developer. As owner of the Bulls, Andrew Chalmers receives a consideration.

3. A shortfall in the number of fans attending "home games" in the first season at Shaw Cross renders the Bulls in financial straits. The solution is to merge them with the Dewsbury Rams ... both clubs banking on most of the travelling Bulls fans being persuaded it's the only viable option and, anyway, both teams already play in red, yellow and black.

4. Gareth Roberts starts a new team in Bradford, to play at Horsfall. A pitch that currently sits inside an athletics  track, has no carpark and holds a stunning 3500 fans. This assumes that the RFL will give him a place in the bottom league.

5. Everything would be hunky dory if we ignored the facts that the city had lost an iconic stadium and the sport has lost  a shedload of fans.

6. The Labour group that runs the council will make a show of wringing its hands in the local paper and say "Never mind, we've built a new outdoor cycling circuit only a mile away."

All whataboutery. Mick shouldn't have filmed himself saying what he said.

I'm not convinced you will get much support for the above here, but it's not massively relevant to this thread.

Rugby League fans are the biggest set of sanctimonious do-gooders in sport.

Players arrested for poor behaviour constantly. At least a few drug bans a year. Crowd trouble.

Yet still make out to be morally superior to other sports.

A fat lad gets drunk after working at his teams stadium for the last time ever, sends a daft video where he swears once to his pals. Some grass leaks it and you all lose your ###### and want him hung drawn and quartered.

Get a grip.

Almost as fanciful as the suggestion of the RFL building a stadium at Odsal to be used for 'big' games on the back of the 2021 RLWC.....
