Jake Mamo I think

Yes. Mamo got yellow for putting his head in Tomkins face, Tomkins got red for throwing punches. At least that's what I picked up from the ref mic at the end.

Anyone who has been in the away end at Catalans will know there is a boxed area at he top full of Catalans fans. The Catalans fans in that area like to lean out and taunt away fans. More than once I have seen away fans clambering up but tonight the Warrington fans made it to the top and fighting broke out.

This followed a prolonged mass brawl on the pitch in which I think 4 players were red carded. mcIllorom & Tomkins plus a couple of Warrington players.

When the players noticed the crowd violence it looked like they were going to go into the crowd to intervene but Childs just about managed to stop them.

Totally disgraceful scenes both on the pitch and in the stand.

Mamo should have got a red for that

It looked more like Mamo was just trying to calm Tomkin's down , just to receive an elbow to the face from Sam ,who then threw a few haymakers at him as well

Yeah to me at first it reminded me of Hillsborough when some fans were trying to escape the crush on the terrace by clambering on to the stand above.

Not sure exactly what was going on but it certainly wasn’t a good look...

Well, I don't mind a bit of biff now and again but that end of match brawl was like watching something from a bygone era that was before my time.  Warrington have turned dirty under Price and to my mind both sets of players were as bad as each other with some usual suspects on both sides.

But even that distasteful end to the game pales into insignificance when compared to watching no doubt drunk blokes in the stands trashing English rugby league's reputation.  I hope they all get long bans by the Warrington club, preferably a night in French cells to cool off along with hefty fines to pay for the damage they no doubt caused.

If the ref had punished players early on a lot of people on here would be complaining.  I thought he handled the various situations calmly and methodically... just the players were not always listening... he handled the difficult situations as well as anyone could of when players are hot headed.

The only thing I would critise him for was not sending off the two Warrington players when each did their 2nd high shot (that is each player did two high shots and went unpunished) . Then of course many would have complained he over reacted.

Respect for the Ref has been waining but this takes it to an unacceptable level.  I can see the camaraderie between the Refs and Players taking a step change.

Easy to say the Ref should’ve controlled it but he isn’t sat looking down on it from multi camera views.

Those Players are responsible and another few fans f*** it up for everyone.

I think Barnyia takes his kids into Puig Aubert so he’ll give us the truth.

Your angle of comments is though you couldn't wait to blame wire fans, you could see fans of both colours involved. But you obviously don't want to put a balanced view. And I am not a one eyed wire fan I regularly criticise our fans but although we have some blame so do the catalan players ,fans, officials and Warrington players.

James Child lacked emotional intelligence there IMO. He was too aloof, too perfunctory and the players got away with murder.

If that was Ben Thaler, say, he wouldn’t have taken half as much ###### off the players.

If think Child’s does seem to lose control of a high % of his games. These are fulltime professional rugby league players and shouldn’t be behaving like dicks just because they got a substitute teacher. I’ve no idea which fans started those disgraceful scenes at the end and some of those fans from both sides shouldn’t be going to RL games again. Having said that I’d like to see both sets of players come out at the end of the game and apologise for their part in stirring that up. On top of that the RFL should also take some responsibility for allowing teams to niggle away all game and they should also let it be known that refs won’t be putting up with anything but yes sir no sir for the foreseeable future until player behaviour improves. Sadly what I expect to happen is a few bans and fines and then nothing to see here move along.

Deary me . We’re gonna get some headlines , only for the wrong reasons . I’ve no idea though why comms keep apologising for bad language . If you put mics in the middle of things take it or don’t do it . Child’s didn’t have a scooby what to do

Which is why dimmo McIlorum gave a high shot in retaliation at the end when if was virtually over.  Wrong and stupid of course.  The right thing to do is laugh and point to the score. But I guess he wanted to give one back thinking the game was over. Thick.

The ref clearly told the players - their captains - to cool it.  They ignored it.  I agree with the criticism of refs who are too pally... what ever happened to the giving a 10 m walk when a player mouths off and or refuses to listen.

Also just what is the point of this ref like when all you get is f this and f that ??

It was a bit like a (vastly) scaled down version of you Hull fans trashing the stadium on semi final day back around 1999.  Warrington fans absolutely bevvied, scrapping all over the stands.  Chris Hill idiotically ran over and tried to get involved.  His behaviour was beyond embarassing.  he was running about looking for a fight to join.  He should not captain Warrington again.

The officials' language showed they didn't want to send him off.  They kept saying that he didn't make contact etc.

I don't know if people noticed (Sky commentary didn't mention it) but a Wire player got a yellow right at full time too.  Just before Tomkins got red carded.

Don’t be so stupid. Chris Hill, Stef Ratchford and a couple of others were trying to calm the crowd down. Hill shouted to the ref “My family’s up there.” James Child completely lost control. Catalans players were continually talking to him throughout the game. At one time he told them to move back 5-6 times and was ignored.

For some reason I don’t think this will have ended.  Wire fans have a long walk back into the town and I can see more trouble coming.

No excuse for the consequences. But, don’t you find it odd both Hill and Gigot feel compelled to approach/placate the crowd?

I thought Hill was mentioning that is parent/parents were up in the crowd were the trouble was.... eventually he followed Gigot example

Problem was that he was so wound up with the action on the pitch and was clearly looking for a bust up that it seemed he wanted to get into the crowd... thinking he would be looking after his parents.

No matter how many times the ref said it would not help, he clearly was wound up enough to want to get in... and have fight with anyone whom came in his way...
