It's not pedantic, there are 3 or 4 games a year, some outside of the SL season. We have far bigger competition right on our doorstep.

It started as 1 game and increasing to a point a team will be relocated to our shores. The game is closest matched to RL and we are competing and loosing in an expansion race

That link repeatedly says the IPL teams make huge profits and links to other stories discussing the size of IPL profits.

The cheapest ticket to watch IPL in Bangalore this year was £22.

the cheapest tickets were just under £4 in the IPL and the majority (6 out of 8 teams) were up tot £9 as the lowest price tickets,, Bangalore cheapest was £20 not £22.

Either way when you're paying players huge sums of money, plus the huge overheads/salaries of backroom staff and costs when buying players in the pre season auction by team owners etc, then there's not necessarily going to be any profit for the actual teams/league

Can’t see where nfl is similar to rl. Rl is continuous, nfl is stop start (more stop than start). Only similarity are the goal posts!

They're not the same , the ball is the closest similarity

Erm well

limited tackles followed by a punt.

Returns from punts not like they where

PTB after each tackle

Repeat set if they get far enough (4020 or the new 2040 or drop out)

Very structured game with set plays

Emphasis on line speed and defence

High skill level required

Pivot players

But to the amateur eye it does look different from first glance

If IPL makes a loss, there must be either fingers in the pie or a very bad business plan!

why, have you looked at the balance sheet, have you looked at the massive salaries that the players get, how much team owners spend on buying players in the pre season auction?

Many people would say the same about championship RL.

That an individual doesn't like something is irrelevant.

Some people like watching men in tight pants playing rounders , it's a free world

Many times more people paid upwards of £80 per ticket to watch Baseball than went to watch Leigh after their promotion when tickets were free.

Perhaps, for a fan of a small club who have played semi-pro RL for at least 22 of the last 24 years, an argument on quality is a losing one.

I suppose with the quality Leeds have served up recently , it's understandable you would prefer rounders

Go on I'll let you have the last one

You can’t compare ticket prices of the IPL and Super League when one of those is taking place in an area of such poverty and destitution.

I never brought it up to compare but it did make the point that cheap tickets are don't help make money.

But with all due respect you're massively out of touch regarding salaries and who attends, Bangalore for instance is affluent.

Don’t exaggerate Kev, West Yorkshire isn’t that bad.

The average salary in Bangalore, Karnataka is Rs 636,467

That’s £7363 per year, there may be some rich people, but it’s a stretch to call Bangalore affluent.

It's all relative , what's the cost of living ?

THAT IS NET OF INCOME TAX if you'd bother to look at the actual data correctly!

And as I said, you don't know who is going to the games, there are over 11 million people in Bangalore alone, so this increases the number of higher earners to more than that in the North of England alone. Significantly upper middle/lower upper and upper class salaries can go up to 7,000,000 rupees, that's £81k/year! You;re also failing to take into account cost of living. If your rent is £200/month (1 bed apartment in Bangalore city) and food costs less then disposable income is a lot more.

If £4 a ticket in some areas isn't cheap then I don't know what is (this would make it equivalent to £42k a year UK for a £24 ticket in the UK for RL) so the point still stands, it doesn't guarantee full stadiums nor profits whichever you want to paint it.

15 million live in the "North of England" and there are thousands and thousands and thousands of them worth well in excess of seven figures and plenty earning in excess of six...many more than  Bangalore , not sure what this is supposed to mean?
